Every time I say POP/POPCORN you must drink! 😂(*Sound Bites at 0:41 seconds & 1:14 minutes*)
I'm so stupid!😂 Ya'll... for real though, backstory: I'm a small appliance junkie. It's a serious problem, bc my husband is, too! We have this rule: NO small appliance comes into this house unless we get rid of another small appliance FIRST. We haven't needed to purchase anything new in many years.
So, when our microwave died a few days ago, I guess that gave the husband an excuse to go get a new small appliance??! I was not expecting this! He just came home with it like it was an abandoned kitten, asking if we could keep it. 😕 ...and why am I getting so excited about popcorn, anyway?? 😆 Cheers! 🍻

It's a massive PITA when it goes off every 30secs while you're cooking, and is very loud if you're using the microwave while anyone is sleeping. Extremely annoying when someone is microwaving a meal that required several stages (eg, 1 min, stir, 1 min, stir, 1 min to finish etc) Hold “clear” and “keep warm” for 2secs to disable the tune. Unfortunately this makes it entirely mute but is 1000x better than the annoying song that keeps repeating. People have resorted to tearing the stupid buzzer out because LG didn't put this in the manual!

When our old microwave died, I jumped at the chance to replace it - it used to beep loudly every 30s which was a pain when busy cooking. I was furious when the new LG was even more annoying 😂 Someone tell the engineers that all we need is a single “ding” when finished, no button tones, and no 30sec reminders.

I just bought this exact same unit last to replace an old Emerson 800 watt oven without a turntable (the oven still works fine for what it is). I definitely think the LG is a MAJOR upgrade in comparison, and between the turntable and inverter feature it definitely cooks more evenly. You've saved me from trying the popcorn setting so thanks for that! And I'll agree this seems to be a very good microwave oven. However, last night I cooked a single boneless skinless chicken thigh, just to see how well it could cook it. I rubbed it in evoo with garlic, salted and peppered it, and put it in a dish in the center of the turntable. I set it for 10 minutes at 30% power. I mainly wanted to check for evenness of cooking. I checked the internal temperature to make sure it was cooked thoroughly. Ten minutes later, I had my answer. The chicken was cooked uniformly, without overcooked spots, no dried out parts! After letting it cool a bit, I tasted it. It was merely "ok". It was thoroughly cooked, but like all microwaved chicken, it had a somewhat "rubbery" feel to the palate. I also baked a small sweet potato using the preset button for "potatoes" , with good results. So what's my point? I still have my old Emerson. I'm hoping to find a home for it since it still works. It was also made in Japan, and that means something in terms of overall quality. But, I'm really wondering if I needed ANY new microwave oven at all lol! I mean, you (and I) spent a lot of money for what? A very good popcorn popper for you, and I got a microwave that cooks more evenly but still makes rubbery chicken lol. I remember the first time I even saw a microwave oven, back in 1975 or 76, at a friend's house. I was thinking, wow they must be rich lol! I was amazed and couldn't wait to get one when I grew up. Well, I bought my first one in 1985 or so, and the first thing I did was cook a piece of chicken. Bottom line? Inverter technology or not, nothing has really changed in microwaves except for stepped up marketing techniques that we all fall for. The 1985 chicken and the 2019 chicken were just not that different imho. I've even been tempted to return it and stick with the Emerson, mainly because the LG messes with my Bluetooth signal and the Emerson doesn't. The LG manual mentions this and assured me the oven isn't defective, although why the old one doesn't do it is beyond me. But, it does look awfully good on my counter. I'll probably end up keeping it!

David Parker I’m wondering if maybe it’s the inverter? I thought by moving my phone and BT speaker further away would make a difference, but even in the next room, there was obvious interference! If you find out anything lmk. I’ll do the same.

I value your in depth review on my video. Having designed high end kitchens with higher end major appliances, I can tell you, you get what you pay for. This particular microwave is considered, in the grand scheme of things, cheap. It is an upgrade, however, if you REALLY want a microwave that will cook differently than the microwaves of the past, you'll need to shell out more cash for one that is far more complicated with many more settings and has a convection fan in the back of it. All microwaves are, internally, essentially the same with different wattages until you get to convection cooking. I was just happy to own a (new) nicer one with a pleasant tone.

We no longer have the microwave we donated it to a well deserving college freshman. We didn’t have any issues with it during the time we had it. As a tip, most all appliances come with a one year warranty from the manufacturer. And purchasing an extended warranty for small appliances like this one usually covers an extra 2 years or more.

I was looking for a good and cheap microwave LG for a long time. Finally I got this on Qwy.io. It has nice set of functions and the price was very low.

I’m sorry. I’ve never done an “official” review and initially that wasn’t my intent when I made this video. This is the only thing I’ve ever “reviewed” and I had no idea it would get this much attention. I honestly just made this video for fun. At the time I had never watched any videos reviewing anything and I am obviously an amateur. I apologize for any inconvenience.

The sparks inside the microwave doesn’t mean it died. It means that you either have food that’s stuck to the wave projector or you put some metal in there without knowing
@MagicalMysteriousMarmalade
@MagicalMysteriousMarmalade 4 жыл бұрын
Our old microwave that this lovely model replaced, was very cheap and was over 2 years old. The sparks that were inside it were not caused by anything metal or anything left inside the microwave. I’m 41 years old and of solid, sound mind. When I say there were sparks inside of it and it died, that’s exactly what happened. Sorry I wasn’t able to video that for you, but I was busy trying not to catch my house on fire. Thanks for commenting!

I don't have the model number. The video was made many years ago. I'm sorry. I just made a random video of the microwave bc I was tickled with it. I didn't know how to make review videos when I made this. It was just a random thing I did.

Hi Melissa.I work for a podcast called Twenty Thousand Hertz which is all about sound and sound design. We're making an episode about the sounds of newer appliances, and we'd love to include a short clip from your video. Is that okay with you?

I was about to post a video on our Samsung washer & dryer in a couple of days. The tune on this set is ridiculous 😂 makes me laugh every time I hear it! It’s a full 30 seconds long and reading through the manual…there’s no way to turn it off! 🤪

Hold “clear” and “keep warm” for 2secs to disable the silly tune. Unfortunately this makes it entirely mute but is 1000x better than the annoying song that keeps repeating. People have resorted to tearing the stupid buzzer out because LG didn't put this info in the manual!

Scott that’s very helpful! I never knew you could do that. Thank you, Scott! Now...I’ve got a SUPER annoying Samsung washer and dryer that does an entire song when the cycle is finished. Do you know how I can stop that?? It’s waaaaaaaay longer than the LG song. 🤣😳 I cant stay in quarantine with these off Broadway musical laundry 🧺 machines.

It seems we get a lot of white goods originally designed for the Asian market. You can always open it and disconnect the speaker but then you won’t have any indication when the cycle is done :(

Do NOT buy! This broke in 2 years, the warranty is only for a specific part not 10 years like it says in the front label( it does not specify a specific part only on product) no point in having a certain part covered when the whole product stops working!!! JUNK!!!
@MagicalMysteriousMarmalade
@MagicalMysteriousMarmalade 2 жыл бұрын
It is regrettable this happens occasionally with many items that are mass produced. This is a good reason to buy an extended warranty which will cover repairs and even replacement if necessary. I would not expect any new microwave to last longer than 5 years, depending on the amount of usage during its lifetime. You brought up great points. Thank you for commenting!
