re-jet the carbs with some 99's, port and polish the cylinder sleeves, carbon fiber cowl, TBM Brakes, some billet wheels, and 25% nitromethane in the fuel tank is what I'm expecting for the next mower race haha. Looked like so much fun racing them around!

Suspension will not increase the performance of the mower. The lower and wider is better. Some camber and caster in the front end to get the entire contact patch of the front tires on the dirt while turning and then the inside of the tire while going straight, will be money. A shifter cart chassis with lawn mower sheet metal is what you want. With the right amount of wheel speed in the turns to keep the rpm’s up so that you are not bogging the engine and slipping the drive belt. A suspension seat might help the back

Man i been trying to convince cleet to do this and he hasn't responded. Cut 2 fwd cars in half behind the front seats. Then weld the 2 front halves together so it will have 2 engines and you could steer in opposite directions and hopefully itll do cyclones . May have to put angle kits on them to get more steering angle. Even if it wont do cyclones it would be cool to see it just burning all 4 tires. Id use 2 honda accords preferably the ones with the j32 or j35 v6 engine

You should use a craftsman mower. An older one with the 5 or 6 speed rear end. I can't remember which one they have. Change front pulley to 6.5/7 inch. Rear pulley to 2.5/3 inch and that mower will do about 40mph. I use to race them also
