It’s been lovely following your journey, well done its not easy, thank you for sharing! Such a shame you’ve had these bad experiences. There are good nannies in Dubai (though some not-so-great ones too) and hope you rfind one soon. We moved a year ago and got SUPER lucky with our nanny, not perfect but very good and its been life changing. I’ve noticed that community group chats like The Springs, Meadows, The Lakes, and Jumeirah Park often have families who’ve had better luck. It might be worth asking in those groups if any families can recommend a nanny who has their own visa. Fingers crossed!

Great to hear you have found a great Nanny. We wouldn’t take a Nanny on her own visa due to the legal implications. Looks like we may have found a good one now. Fingers crossed and stay tuned. ❤️

Great video! It’s a real issue! In 2 months mine went from amazing to bringing male friends around my child once. Immediate sacking! UAE needs to regulate this asap

We looked at maids and spoke to friends about it but we was in a townhouse at the time (Dubai hills) and i think in a town house there is no need for it they are far to small to warrant having the help in such a confined space just too much agg as you literally step over each other and i couldn't imagine with 6 plus a maid in a town house. Gardens are also tiny and they only have their maids room for the majority of the time. A villa or what they call a Mansion here is a different story IMO they can literally have a back kitchen and room on a near separate wing of the house so you both get the privacy and not confined to single room. Also when you have capacity for a pair of maids who are friends and can chat away during the working day and socialise it seems they do well as they are not isolated and generally happier and not lonely seem to last long term. Townhouse maids from what and who i know very rarely workout or have a high turn over. In a 4 bed villa now and just have a cleaner 3 days a week and its a nice compromise for us. Good Luck!

Have you tried talking to other families who have had more experience with having a long-term maid? Maybe they'd have good advise. Completely get the frustration - one of the main reasons of wanting to move there is the ability to have full-time help so struggling to achieve that could be annoying. Also, I'd thinking cooking was a part of the basic skill-set of a maid? I lived in the UAE as a child and my parents had a maid from India who cooked cleaned, took care of us, basically did everything. Yes they do get emotional from time to time because they are alone and away from their families - often young kids - so it's only human for them to feel the need to talk about it but unloading their emotional baggage all the time can get depressing for the employers. Maybe the dynamic has changed over the years but back in the day maids really did it all, even though admittedly back then they weren't treated that well either (for example a lot of the residences didn't have a humane maids quarters). Really hope you find someone that suits your needs especially because I don't think your demands are out of the ordinary (I would very much expect the same things if I hired someone as a maid).

Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had a great experience. Of course happy for them to be human but like you said off loading a huge emotional load straight away is tough as they have to help first as that’s what you hired them for. We are positive that we will get there. ❤️

@@themonagofamily in fact back in the day, when the world was sane and there weren't too many border controls etc, some maids were also expected to travel with families during holidays etc. I don't know if this still happens though. So it is crazy to me that they can't even do some basic things these days!

Most nanny are always thinking they come to look after the children and that is all. No consideration of sence of belonging to help in other areas. It's not easy t at all to afford a nanny and the nanny is not ready to be considerate.
