I put a little recap towards the end of this video but we went to Norway for a wedding! Levi's grandparents had a foreign exchange student (Siri) about 40 years ago. Siri's daughter, Sara Marie, was getting married to Oyvind, and they invited us (their "American family") to the wedding. This was such an amazing trip to see them and spend time with them. They made delicious meals for us, told us all about their beautiful home, and we had many amazing conversations/stories shared. We spent the first week there with the family, helping with all pre wedding duties. The wedding was held in their small home town called Meraker, population of about 2500. After the wedding, Levi, Landan, Danielle, Christine and I drove 7+ hours to Geiranger, a fjord in NW Norway where we stayed on a boat Airbnb with Ulrik and Maria and their dog, Ramoncito!! We got lucky booking this Airbnb because they are only docked at this fjord for certain parts of the year. The hosts of the Airbnb told us all about the history of the fjord and took us on a sailing adventure where they dropped us off for a 5 hour hike! We met a really nice guy from the Netherlands named TJ that we did most of the hike with. After we finished the hike we had dinner and then grabbed a beer and a shot of aquavit with TJ. Our next stop was Oslo! We stayed in Grunerlokka, a newer "hip" area of Oslo that gave Chicago vibes but on a much smaller scale. We drove collectively 21 hours in 4 days and saw a lot of the country. Things I miss already - their thin waffles with cloud berries and cream, brown cheese and toast, and the mountain and waterfall views! THANK YOU NORWEGIAN FAMILY!!
