Such a relief, getting water on your land flowing again! The table is looking amazing! Here's a creative idea for the yellow edging: Once you find the tiles you like to fill the gap, why not paint the patterns of the tile along the edging (even just one centred design on each side would be pretty), to tie it all together even more?

The table looks so great! I worked somewhere during uni that had tables with gaps like that. We had metal troughs that had condiments, napkins, cutlery etc a candle and vase. The restaurant was on a harbour & it was also handy for keeping the sun umbrella from taking off in the wind we got on the tables on the deck. It was handy to reset the tables, we collected them all and each acted as its own tray. You could always do similar or event plant flowers. Great job on the water! We have an air lock that periodically comes into out bathroom sink, then the toilet & bath! We hook the hose up to the outdoor tap and push the water in through a valve in the toilet! We used to suck the air out with a wet/dry vac but the hose works so much better! The feeling when water comes through the tap! The relief you must have had! Very happy to have recently found your channel :)

I'm English but was born and grew up in Portugal and left for the UK when I was seven in 1977 I had the best childhood , no tv no electric, outdoors all day long eating plums figs and oranges, we swam in a large concrete "pool" which was often green! rode horses and kept animals It was idilic , the Portuguese where so so kind and generous (just like your neighbors) despite not having much. I have a crazy suggestion about its gap: you could put a long, narrow flower vase and grow small plants instead of using flower tiles! Have just finished watching this vlog with hubby ( a retired DT teacher), who is in absolute awe of the beautiful oak that you created the table from. He was slightly unsure when John started filling the gaps but by the end he was in total agreement. Apparently the yellow boards are called stretchers ( if that is of any help!) Living, as we do, in a 1960s home, we crave Stone and wood. So we collect bits from all over and use it to make furniture etc. Keep at it. The history of that wood is special. I have always told my girls home is always here if you need to come back. Both of them hold that true to their hearts, and both have come home during difficult times. Still getting used to adding your vlog to my schedule, I hadn’t seen this one until today the 15th. I am absolutely loving watching you three. You are such enjoyable people. I think you are doing a wonderful job. Solving the water problem was brave and genius. You must have felt so chuffed with yourselves. Between you 2, your neighbor, Phil, the plumber and your dad, that’s the old saying, it takes a village. Your table build is absolutely perfect, repurposing the old into the new farm. Another genius idea, to fill in the gaps in the tabletop. You are definitely experiencing the ups and downs of life on a farm and handling it very well indeed.
