The "6" person. I need a 6. Give me a 6.". Made my morning. Thank you, Mike. Although the "5 guy" is usually working when I sub.

I think grader’s notes could be a good thing but I could also see them opening a whole other can of worms. For starters, they would create a lot more opportunity for disagreements and scrutiny. Instead of arguing over whether a card is a 9 or a 10 we are gonna have people delving into the minutia of what was included or excluded from the notes. Second, it’s gonna give card cleaners a blueprint for what needs fixing on the card in order to resubmit and get a higher grade. Guess we will see how it plays out.

Good point about cleaners

Great discussion. I am totally in favor of grader notes, but like the complaints relating to grading accuracy and consistency, the notes are going to be equally scrutinized. Need to have accurate notes. Ideally, the notes (if they're public and/or utilized on future submissions) will help improve the grading accuracy/consistency.

Could an argument be made that if PSA were to release grader notes, that overall grading submission numbers in the future may drop? I could see a scenario where I submitted cards, got grader notes on the submission, and those notes helped me be more selective in what I send to PSA in future submissions. If I start to learn what issues I miss on my cards, and review future submission candidates for flaws more closely, there's a chance I submit fewer cards moving forward.

Great conversation, gents. Mike: Many others have been part of the conversation over the years (grading notes), but it's no coincidence that within a week or two of your blistering review of grading, PSA change their policies. JWH Mike gets s**t done! 😃 Danny: The relegation of graders part made me laugh... it seems that not only are the cards being graded, but so to are the graders (as they should be!). I wonder whether the management team sit around a table and provide 'grading notes' on the graders for the performance review: "Bob, you were sitting on a PSA 9... but you've made too many errors this past three months, and have slipped down from GEM Mint, to Poor!", alternatively, those who perform well and get higher grading get an 'upcharge' (pay rise).

Well. I sent a Randy Johnson '89 upper deck RC. To sgc. I expected a 10 or atleast a 9.: came back an 7I. Just keeping it to say the least

The "grader had a bad day" theory is not legitimate. PSA recently confirmed that the practice is for two people to review a card. If both graders have the same score, that's the score. If not, another grader reviews the card breaks the tie (my words). So, realistically, at least TWO graders have to be having a bad day. Maybe three.
@TJCloutier7 ай бұрын
Agreed, however those people were always imbeciles claiming that. Bafoons. PSA’s always had 2 graders look at a card forever

PSA told me 3 graders looked at the 86 Fleer MJ that graded 6 (mentioned in the show). Was a BGS 8 (9,9,8.5,7.5 surface). So BGS thought the corners earned an 8.5 while the scratches were worth 7.5).

Yeah there isn’t much logic to any of the PSA conspiracy theories.

The graders notes won't mean a damn thing. As long as it's still human graded and subjective, it'll mean nothing. You could still send a card in 3 times, and get 3 different grades, with 3 different sets of graders notes. If anything I think it will cause more confusion and strife. "How come this card got a deduction for that tiny bit of white on the corner, when this card has more white and got no deduction??!!" The only thing this is going to show more clearly, is how inconsistent PSA really is. Just my 2¢

This just gave me an idea for a series: submitting the same card repeatedly to see if I get the same notes.

@@JunkWaxHero The founder or CEO of TAG grading did something similar, before the grader notes. The results of their experiment neither company was good at detecting trimmed cards, he intentionally trimmed them.
