John, do you have any interest in Sportscaster cards from the late 70's? Would love to have a conversation if you are.

It did make me laugh imagining Keatings ole Shop dealer watching Chris and Mike flex what a monsterous and quickly turned around return they got off him on youtube. I said it on Chris' video but it's worth saying again for those of us who are accumulating some value of cards with which we will leave to our family/heirs; educate them on the value of the cards and the best methods for which to best sell them (i.e. not to card shops or youtubers like these blokes lol)

Hey Mike, I really enjoy the content you put out, thank you for all you do for the hobby. Along the lines of acquiring hobby knowledge, I have found an alleged authentic Christy Mathewson card that I am having a very hard time identifying and/or authenticating. Just wondering if you'd be willing to take a look at tell me if you recognize it. Thanks again for all you do. Jason
You can email me a pic and I will do the best I can at helping you figure it out. [email protected] is my email.

Well dude how else are you supposed to look through and enjoy your sets without wrecking/wearing them without albums/pages? I mean if costs what, $400-$500 per Heritage set/year if you count the SP's and the basic non-serial numbered inserts (don't go without those as especially the ones about historical events are just as if not more interesting than the set proper) then you owe it to yourself to have them in albums so you can enjoy them properly! Not just hidden away in a box and forgotten about :(

Congrats on the SI gig, Danny. Fun discussion of hobby knowledge. Thanks to Jefferson Burdick for keeping the books, to start. The periodicals of the 80’s were to huge, and it feels like the internet/KZbin is really maturing in terms of dynamic sources of trustworthy information. Well done fellas.

Great conversation, lads! And congrats, Danny on the SI gig! Terrific! Forgive me for going off on a tangent somewhat... The internet has been, and remains, an incredible platform for knowledge-sharing, and for convenience; however, it's also allowed those who find communicating in person with other people daunting, the ability to disengage; ironically, whilst they are very-much connected with the outside World, they are very-much 'disconnected' in a physical sense. That, in my opinion, has led to, and intensified, the social issues we see to-day. It's heightened the inability of some people to read basic human signals and emotions. Not that a card shop is a petri-dish of the human specimen and human emotions (I suppose opening a pack of cards can be a snap-shot though, haha), but it at least forced shy people to build up the confidence to engage with people. Too easy now to just click 'buy it now', and have the mail man deliver the item to your door (and hide behind the couch until he's gone, so no human engagement needed there either). Food for thought.

I acquired a lot of knowledge from sifting through the Beckett almanac. When I was making a checklist for my 82-96 hof diamond king autograph collection, that's how I discovered the leaf canadian greats and the 2 Dks from the learning set. And it was quite fun finding those items. Even more fun aquireing them

Emphasis on destroyed by bike spokes and whole collections thrown away by moms. Because............ Its just pieces of cardboard. If youre paying $100 for a piece of cardboard, you're gambling.

Keep in mind that Topps may not have even released the triple auto card yet. Since they have the bounty out for the card, they might be waiting for most of the product to be sold and then release it. That way, Topps maximizes their revenue for the product.

Anything can be an addiction (hobbies like crafts, collecting, traveling, etc.). Although some of them are very destructive physically and mentally like d**gs. For the above first mentioned, moderation and balance are key.

If there's a downside to displaying one's collection out in the open, it's that it makes things very easy for a burglar carrying a big black bag marked "swag."
