Agree that screwing up the design of a $195 pan to house a $3 wooden spatula is dumb. Other reviewers point out that using the cover makes STEAM heat the handle! The Titanium Oxide (actually a coating) is said to be under license, so PERHAPS someone else will eventually use that technology on a pan without the dumb groove.
@lioncross184912 күн бұрын
@@HBS82 Yes. The design of this has me confused as to what the designer was thinking. To your knowing, is the titanium oxide surface in anyway toxic or damaging to health?
@HBS8212 күн бұрын
@@lioncross1849 I don't know that titanium oxide is toxic (nor would I expect it to be in the very minute quantities that would come OFF of the pan surface). Then again, for about 30 years no one knew that the "forever" chemicals (PFAS) were or would potentially be toxic. Titanium or titanium compounds are used as the final layer of expensive stainless steel pans as well. Titanium is quite expensive and forms strong bonds to other metals, and it is certainly less likely to come off, even in microscopic amounts, than Teflon and the class of PFAS that it intends to replace. The Always Pan Pro may present more risk from steam on the handle than from any chemical migration.

Your right you'll read reviews all over the place, and some have gripes that are legit. Why can't they preseaon these pans?

Thanks. I do think the pan does work with enough fat/oil. I am doing a boiling water test in the future to test that big gap. I use the spoon holder all the time for all my always pans and pots. I don’t get why people don’t use it or like it!. Anyway, thanks for the review, I can’t wait for mine to arrive.
@UkuleleJayBBQ6 ай бұрын
It’s a very odd placement to me and with the lid off it pops up the spatula however I am not using that to rate the pan which is what I cared about. The nice this is my Hexclad glass lid which is awesome fits on this like a glove and won’t burn you. The thin stainless lid is way too hot to grab. I’m quick in the kitchen when cooking for a private dinner party and don’t want to worry about burning myself.
@smalltownhomesteadAC6 ай бұрын
@@UkuleleJayBBQ I have heard the lid is thin so I’ll be watching for that. How’s the handle, is it slippery if it gets moisture or oil on it? With the regular always pan, the steam (spoon) slit doesn’t burn even when boiling water or simmer hot oily liquid. I use that feature all the time and I don’t think this will be any different. I think the slot is too wide, and the steam disburses quickly, it doesn’t shoot out like a pressurized jet of steam. I use the spoon holder when simmering slowly so I don’t have to put the spoon down on another surface. I imaging using it when searing also now. Anyway, hope the pan works out for you. It’s certainly pricey!
@amarillo-armadillo6 ай бұрын
People like myself find it a stupid design decision because the notch makes it impossible to fully seal with a lid, and that's a common need in cooking. Combine that with the fact that I don't need a new place to store a single utensil (I store all mine together in a cannister already) just makes it a completely thoughtless and irritating design.
@smalltownhomesteadAC6 ай бұрын
@@amarillo-armadillo It does seal if you turn the lid, and the spoon rest is for when you are cooking, I store my spoons in a utensil holder when not in use. Each to their own I guess, but I love it lol!
@UkuleleJayBBQ6 ай бұрын
@@smalltownhomesteadAC I have not any any issues with being slippery. I have have never had oil on my handles ever, but will do a tests with some oil and see how that handles. That is true when it comes to setting it down but I have a 5.00 rubber holder I use for my utensils with cooking that I can just set it down and don't care if it drips as it's on the silicone. At the end of the night, 5 seconds under the sink and it's spotless, so the spoon thing still just gets in the way for me and you have to consciously focus on setting it on the knob through the hole and when I have 4 things going, I'm not looking on putting a spoon in a specific spot and then having it come flying off when I hit the handle, which will happen. I'm really not judging the pan on this, just thing it's really a marketing gimmick thing which wasn't needed. A glass lid with vent sealing the top would definitely put this 10/10 on the scale but I am going to test this huge open slot to see how it goes...and will do it wide open, and turned 90º so the slit is as small as I can make it. Thanks for watching, I have many more videos coming and released a short this morning on eggs with butter. Let me know what you think!

Hello I do not know this company. When I ordered the only item was the stainlesss, no Gold. It said there was a waiting list and I did not want to wait. I never had an order for a steamer basket so I have no idea. This is the first pan of theirs I have ever purchased.
@markwigdor75055 ай бұрын
Oh and I was also thinking to like attach some aluminum foil to the cover where that opening is to stop the steam from getting the handle hot. Do you think this is a good idea and will solve that issue?
@UkuleleJayBBQ5 ай бұрын
So then why buy a pan like this is my exact point. If I was so concerned about it I would not get this pan and get something all stainless or with a coating (if you can find one that meets any health concerns. @markwigdor75055 ай бұрын
How about if the top was glass, so that you could view the cooking process? In watching another video on this all pro pan there is too much space where the spoon sits and steam escapes causing the handle to get hot. Maybe if the space for the spoon was a tighter fit might solve that issue. Just a few ideas I came up with. Although the fact there isn’t any coating on the pan means that eventually the coating won’t get into the food being cooked. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what I’ve said and thank you for sharing with these videos you provided.

I agree with the theory. I have never been a fan of the spoon holder on the pan. Very cumbersome so using it without the spoon would be my norm (just my personal opinion) but I do boil water in a similar pan so I will be testing the boiling to see how much steam escapes. I am personally not worries about a coating as there are A LOT worse everyday things in life. I am going on. 9 years with my Heclad pans and they are coated with a steel hex on top and zero issues. If I ever have an issue the company either replaces under their life time warranty or I buy a new pan but so far zero issues, fantastic glass ventilated lids as well. I definitely think the lid on this is super thin and looks dirty all the time from fingerprints even with clean hands touching it. Just my .02

Like your vid, just a couple of recommendations. While you stated it, we should make it clear that you are comparing a pan that has had 9 years of use and seasoning to a brand new pan. the First egg test looked odd. It didn't look like it was heated properly, nor have a tablespoon of oil. I am not doubting you, just stating it didn't look it. Maybe next time show the Heat and the Oil (like you did on the second one test). I'm guessing you cooked it right after the seasoning? Price is an important factor and you mentioned the price of the Our Place pan, but not the current price of an equivalent HexClad pan with Lid. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I wish you much success on your channel.

Thank you for your comment, I read them all and all your points are well taken. When doing a follow up I’ll try to do that. Great points, thanks! An equivalent Hexclad is 169.00 or about 139 when they have sales throughout the year and have a far superior glass lid with beveled edge seal and steam vent in the lid.

The groove for the spoon may have been put there to get you guys to complain. Then when they put out the new titanium pan without the groove that heats the handle, you’ll spend another 2 hondo and boost their sales. Kind of like when Coca Cola changed their formula. Remember how everyone clamored to return to old coke? This gave Coca Cola a window of opportunity to return to the original recipe and market it as Classic Coke without sounding pretentious. They kept New Coke around for awhile but it ultimately disappeared, like the pan with the big slot is going to be replaced by the 200.00 pan you really want. Pretty good scheme aye?

@@UkuleleJayBBQthe lid does seem like potentially the most problematic part. Fortunately I don’t use a lid much when cooking (I’m probably a bad cook for that😅). I’m most eager to see how serious they are about their lifetime guarantee on performance, and whether they’re guaranteeing no reduced performance of the non-stick effect over time or whether they will claim that is wear and tear and therefore under their guarantee exemptions.
