Left the slowest car on the grid… to drive the worst car on the grid! He is so washed up his career got ended by Norris over the last two seasons and I would not be surprised if Tsunoda wipes the floor with him. Overhyped and overrated driver Daniel is. Only how smile and blind love from fans keeps him into a car. Great move from Red Bull to put Checo and Yuki under pressure tho! The marketing team loves it as well I bet.

What Matt and Tommy have overlooked is that Perez has issues in qualifying with tyre warmup. And Hungary is a different setup with hard tyres in Q1, medium in Q2.

@@DonLee1980 Checo got screwed at Silverstone by a long red flag. Then he was first out on a slightly wet track. He flew a purple lap and at the end of Q1 was 1.051 secs behind the leader and this on an almost 90 seconds lap. What was unpredictable was that 14 drivers planted themselves in that 1 second gap including Max who was p5, not even in the top 3. Because of the delay there was no time left for another flying lap. Checo was pushed down to p16 just one shy of moving on.

Although it is great to see Ricciardo behind the wheel again, I'm being cautious in regards to expecting miracles. My hope is that Ricciardo finishes the next two races before the summer break with the Tauri in one piece so he has a chance to familiarise himself with the car and its weaknesses before getting after it in the second half of the season.

That's what I was thinking too. But, still hoping RB maybe saw something in the data of Daniel "relearning how to drive" as a backup driver, and that the swap was motivated by pace Daniel was demonstrating in the sim.

probably because mercedes was their actual contender but we know the w13 was too damn slow. what about ferrari? well, instead of running leclerc's medium stint a little bit longer since claimed he still felt good on the set so they can pit for softs which were amazing for everyone, ferrari masterclass decide to pit leclerc early for hard tyres even though hungary was far colder than normal and despite the fact that no team throughout the weekend managed to get the hard tyres to work. then leclerc had to pit again because they were so bad...

I'm cautiously positive for McLaren. On one hand the track doesn't suit the car but on the other hand, they qualified p4 last year here with a bad car and this year, the upgrades seem to work compared to last year and on top of that, they are adding part 3 of the upgrade in Hungary.

AFAIK McLaren are bringing new suspension parts in Hungary. Their slow corner problems are mainly suspension driven, so if the new upgrades work, I'm very optimistic about their chances.

If the RB upgrade is as big as they say there’s no way Max misses pole. I’d also say an actual fight for the lead involves it changing more than once. If Max takes the lead from someone after he gets DRS and then cruises it’s not really a fight.

If you really want to get a good grasp of how the tracks I recommend trying out the f1 game. You'll then see how much of a pain Monaco really is and how easy some other tracks are in comparison. You'll also learn a good deal about F1 in general some stuff you can't get by just watching races.

Daniel coming in now is very risky. If he fumbles these two races, all that people will be talking about is whether or not it was wise to bring him in "so soon". It's gonna be a slog for that team if he doesn't score points.

It is such a classic Redbull poisoned chalice, depending on how well Checo, Daniel or Yuki does it spells doom for at least 1 but more likely 2 of the drivers. It is going to be interesting to watch because Redbull act quickly when it comes to driver management.

Imagine thinking or expecting anyone to be scoring points in an Alpha Tauri after its last few performances. Yuki has only managed to score P10 twice so far this season, and that's with another expected points scorer vacating that p10 position. Nobody is expecting Ricc to score points on what is literally the worst car on the grid now. A car he hasn't even driven once. If they are, well that's on them for having some unrealistically stupid expectations bereft of any perspective. If in the off-chance that anyone at AT scores points, it''ll be because Williams suck at the particular circuit, or Haas, Alfa Romeo or Alpine/Stroll had a disaster of a race. McLaren, even at tracks they aren't strong at, will be consistent points scorers from now on.

I'm a bit skeptical of the Danny Ric hype going around. Because realistically, he's in the slowest car on the grid by a long margin, which also has the same sort of characteristics of the Mclaren that he really struggled with over the last few years. Also, I've found that the more hyped up something is, the bigger it usually flops (like the Miami GP recently). I predict that Daniel will be struggling to get out of Q1 and be fighting for 18th place in the race - although I'd love it if he could somehow drag that tractor into points-paying positions.

mclaren had instability in the entire braking phase, the alpha tauri has late instability on turn in rather than braking, its not the same limitations at all, the mclaren is weird and unbalanced, lando said it was like driving a car that keeps falling off of a knife edge with its performance, as long as the AT is balanced and is stable under braking, he's gonna be fine

Tbh I think Gasly and Ocon are the hardest drivers to rate. Ocon had a bit more help from the team for being french than Alonso, and didn't DNF as much, but in the end they weren't far apart. He was barely behind Perez in his full first season. Also a bit behind Ricciardo who was amazing then. Gasly meanwhile had his ass whooped by Verstappen but then everyone gets whooped by max... Then he proceeded to demolish Daniil and Yuki, neither of which are any slouches. Somewhat unrelated to the video but yeah.

Biggest surprise: Ricciardo will make the Alpha Tauri look good. Biggest flop: Alpine and Aston Martin struggle. My predictions. Pole Position: One of the McLaren's Top THREE: Hamilton, Norris, Verstappen. Maybe not in that order. Crazy Prediction: Ricciardo will make top 10..... Norris and Piastri will make top 5..... Verstappen struggles but gets to the podium again. Final Thought: What a strange Qualification was had. Lots of drivers out of position and performance in the race is effected.
