I feel like it’s too easy to say that losing diaby and Douglas Luiz would make Villa worse but diaby didn’t fit the system and Luiz fell off at the end (still devastating though) but they have recruited so well and they have the third best manager in the league, best keeper in the world and the second best striker in the league

Agree generally, the squad is definitely better as well, but Diaby was the only Villa player to play every game and had a slightly underrated first season imo, and there's almost no RW depth for injury prone Bailey, especially considering Diaby has CL experience. I think Diaby is potentially a bigger loss than Luiz, as fundamental as he was in the first 2/3 of last season. Still any European place and qualifying for the next round of CL would be a great season for me
