I think that's the big selling point for him. Aston was likely the only team that offered him a shareholder stake in the team on top of his new role being at the very top of the technical ladder.

How is he smart? He did it for the money and that's about it. Making a car only for Alonso. And is a big IF. Because he needs to perform as Verstappen last year. To be honest Stroll is a weak driver and no one takes Aston Martin seriously because of Stroll's son. You can have the best and all time team you still have one driver that knows how to drive. Daddy cannot buy driving skill like he bought F1 teams until now.

Don’t underestimate Andy Cowell. He was the genius behind the dominant Merc Engine of 2014. Him AND Newey is an incredible combo. - Despite this, I will be rooting against the Strolls for as long as I live.

I just hate that people think Adrian is the only guy who's capable of designing a fast car. And he can do it all by himself. There's no credit to any other great designers and the others involved with the car. I don't understand those guys. Adrian is one of the greatest, but he isn't the only one, and other people needs to be credited aswell.

completely different situation. Jaguar racing was a terribly run team that had 1 podium in 5 years and like 40 DNF's, with their highest finish being 7th. They qualified multiple seconds off the top and finished most race one or more laps down. AM is struggling a bit this season but has solid foundations and has been preparing for this for multiple years.

One thing not mentioned is that Newey didn't went alone to Aston Martin, he had a list of other professionals he wanted with him there and that was the thing that made Ferrari stop looking after him: since Fred Vasseur went there Ferrari made a hire spree, they literally doesn't have the cap for that.

It's a great signing for AM. No doubt about that. But people need to calm down a bit. As good as Newey is, he's not a God or a guarantee of championships.Newey has been designing F1 cars for 37 years iirc. He's the most successful designer ever. By far. But in those 37 years, for 24 years a car NOT designed by him won the WDC. People just need to lower their expectations a bit The huge unknown will be Honda's engine in 2026 If it's a lemon, then it won't matter how good Newey is

I think you give Lawrence too little credit. One doesn't become a Billionaire and have all that success in business without being a fiercly competitive person. I'm sure Lawrence wants to win for himself. He wants to be the guy that turned a Formula 1 team into a world champion. Obviously his son is a big reason and motivation, but I'm sure if it comes down to it he would put Max into that car so his team can be champion. So he himself can win and get the acolades.

Which is obviously gonna be a nonstarter for Ferrari who has their own established structure and doesn't want to share control with "outsiders".

People have to remember that having him doesn’t guarantee that they will be championship contenders. Who knows how good the Honda engine will be. Who knows how good everyone else will be. Who knows how good Lance will be.

Not surprised he went to Aston Martin. They have bags of potential given the new facilities and strong financial backing, they’ve been on a bit of a slump so he can be key to rejuvenating their forward momentum, start at day 1 of the 2026 R&D, have near-carte blanche on the car design, avoid the continuing fallout from the Red Bull internal struggles, avoid any potential internal politics at Ferrari and not have to up his whole life to move to a different country. I’ve always been a fan of Aston Martin cars (owning a grand total of 0 I might add), so it’d be awesome to see them at the sharp end of F1.

Max is more likely to join Merc than AM (assuming that he HAS to switch from Redbull for some reason). He needs a strong Team Principal like Toto who can deal with his blunt criticism regarding the car and team and produce promising results, rather than some sugarcoated bs like Lawrence Stroll

"Why did he join Aston Martin".....he did an interview that was posted less than thirty minutes after the announcement as to why, it had nothing to do with how much money he was offered. The scandal with Horner, being sidelined during the development of the RB20 and lack of drive to continue with the team being the main reasons for the switch.
