Oscar is learning fast and that stunning, sublime move on Lando at Monza clearly shows this young man has intent. Will the close of the 24 season and 25 be these two drivers going head to head for the drivers title. Quite possibly. The McLaren was superior from the first race of the season, but the drivers were not able to show it. Oscar because of his experience and Lando because of his constant errors. We had to wait few months to see the domination since the gap between the McLaren and the rest of the pack had increased significantly. Lando doesn't learn from his mistakes, blame others, while Oscar learn at every race and is improving constantly. If he is slightly slower than Lando, he is way more reliable and can compensate the gap. It is clear he will pass him very soon. @tomnewham12692 ай бұрын
It was the 2nd race of the season. As it was early in the season, RB wanted to protect the engines as there is a limited amount of engines they are allowed to use. Finally which is usual for most teams, the driver that is ahead of their team mate gets the first choice in pit stops and that is the team orders that Mark is alluding to. But as Mark said, Vettel was being challenged by Lewis and so Seb got preferential treatment with the timing of the pit stops. If Webber had the preference with the pit stops, Mark would have easily won the race.
@grandmasterj52 ай бұрын
@@tomnewham1269 oh my mistake, so yes by the second race in they should firmly have team orders in place 🤣 That had nothing to do with engines. Red bull had deals where if a particular driver had 1st place at a particular point that driver would win. Sometimes it was who finished the first lap in first, who gets to turn 1 and holds it first, and on other occasions who gets pole. It had nothing to with engine saving, it was to get them not to race and take each other off on a podium position because RB didn't trust them not to

Yep Oscar has hope of finishing 2nd in wdc than Lando of winning

@@neetsk12why should Piastri have had loyalty to Alpine when they were playing him and Alonso against each other.

This podcast needs some work…settle down and relax fellas - be yourselves! Coulthard - I still remember you stuck behind the Arrows at Monaco for 40 laps. Shouldn’t have cut that deal with Mika at Melbourne… Mark - your best title chance was 2010, Korea burned… Eddie - amazing things in late 90s, particularly’99.

Yeah had it plastered on the title but skirted around it, never thought EJ would be the type to shy away from things

_Does it matter that Oscar thinks/feels he's better than Lando???_ Norris is having the better/more consistent yr with a DNF. Be a team player. Period.

There are only constructors in F1 and calling them a "team" is a laugh. WEC's car 83 drivers are a team and Kubica has always been a class act .

Just a reminder of overall stats: Norris: 2 races won and 13 podiums Piastri: 1 race won, 1 sprint race won and 7 podiums For me Piastri is getting better and reducing the initial season gap (next year will be another story)

Points on the board this season. Norris joined the team when it wasnt as dominant as it is now, Piastri walked into the team at a very good time. Good overtakes or nothing to lose divebombs against Norris ( team mate !! ) and Leclerc. Not denying he is a very promising and present talent.

I don’t think that move around the outside of the second chicane was ‘magic’, it was reckless If he’d have tried that against any other driver he would have been taken out of the race! That was on Lando being too kind but I don’t think he’ll let it go the for a second time

I can't understand how Mohammad bin Salman is related to this? McLaren is owned by Qatar royal family and Saudi owns Aston Martin

People discussing team orders but for me the point is Lando is not really drive good, hard and smart enough for be a contender alongside Max to win this championship... He needs do way better starts, betteer wheel to wheel battles and receive better strategy from the team too...

And you know what it's like to drive a F1 car right? And what an achievement it is to even score over 200 pts in F1
