When sung live Papa Emeritus said it's a song about drinking blood and eating flesh. I think he's just painting out how unusual Catholic communion is when you really think about it. 😂 Love that you guys posted this on my birthday. Great reaction as always. ✌️

I think the meaning points out the "Body and Blood" of Jesus, once consumed, goes through the very human process of digestion and becomes feces and urine. I'm beginning to suspect Tobias doesn't hold the Catholic Church in very high regard.

This song makes me nostalgic for the older eerier Ghost songs that they used to make. Not that their new stuff isn’t great, but it’d be nice for them to have some kind of return to this type of music at some point.

I love this song. Very underrated in my opinion. I like that you dove into the lyrics and interpreted them. Brings a whole new meaning to listening to it but I still love the song.

Yeah, u off my a mile, tho interesting idea i guess, this album is very physical and sensual, so this song is partly (first verse is just a lot of unrelated lines about death and rotting corpses bc sounds cool) mocking the idea of communion, how its ridiculous to make eating something an act of holy worship when we all gonna defecate it out no matter what, and how believing that youre literally eating jesus when getting communion, is a weird way to worship him in the first place, since its turning ppl into cannibals. Thx for another good reaction

I liked your idea of the lyrics, but the meaning is actually more up front than you thought. It’s really just about taking the communion literally and eating and drinking from Christ’s corpse directly. Literally “serving the Messiah.”
