None 😵‍💫I've always hated this kind of muzak. However, the artists themselves (seen here) are often nice personalities.

Hey you should react to specific years of Melodifestivalen. Schlagerlucas has recaps or Melodifestivalen years detailing all songs eliminated in the heats, second chance and then the final. There very good. I recommend years 2010, 2011, 2012 among others

"Tusen och en natt" was translated into english and Charlotte sang the english version at esc ("take me to your heaven"). They did the same with "När vindarna viskar mitt namn" in 2001 (english version is called "when spirits are calling my name") that represented Sweden that year and also "Det gör ont" (2004) went to eurovision but again, it got translated ("It hurts"). And Carola won in 1991, not 1980

If you haven't done so already, I highly recommend checking out Den Svenska Björnstammen, I think you've heard at least "vart jag mig i världen vänder" in a previous video but basically all of their songs are amazing and in swedish :D

Caroline af Ugglas with the song Snälla snälla, performed also the year before (I think it two). That song was also awesome. The title is Jag tror på dig.

2:55 I quite like Lena Philipsson song when it's in swedish. The English version she performed in Eurovision was quite bad. Unfortunately, since the '90s, it’s been a trend for every song that wins Melodifestivalen to get translated into English for Eurovision. It loses its charm when translated, especially because Swedish is structured differently and has idioms that don’t exist in English. I actually prefer the Swedish versions of every song we’ve translated for Eurovision, except for ABBA’s 'Waterloo'-that one sounds horrible in Swedish.

Thank god you liked Caroline af Ugglas - Snälla snälla! You're basically being mocked by people if you say you like that song for some reason. I absolutely LOVE that song and how vulnerable she is while singing it. (Snälla=Please) She's begging her man not to leave her

The songs that won the Swedish national competition in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004, and 2006 were originally in Swedish, but they got English lyrics for the Eurovision Song Contest. 1999: Tusen och en natt → Take Me to Your Heaven 2000: När vindarna viskar mitt namn → When Spirits Are Calling My Name 2001: Lyssna till ditt hjärta → Listen to Your Heartbeat 2004: Det gör ont → It Hurts 2006: Evighet → Invincible _Tusen och en natt/Take Me to Your Heaven_ won the Eurovision Song Contest that year, so no wonder you recognized it. The 2004 song lost a lot of its feel in translation, probably because the person translating it was more concerned about keeping the literal meaning of the lyrics than making the song flow well. Also, Jon Henrik Fjällgren's songs are a mix of South Sami and Swedish. He may have been adopted from Colombia, but he grew up Sami and speaks the South Sami language natively.

Caroline af Ugglas is Swedens answer on Janis Joplin! This song was way to good to win that year…

Some of the songs were sung in Swedish in our national contest, but when they won they were translated and performed in English in Eurovision. Like 1999, 2000, 2001 and a few more. I think it is a pity that we never dare to sing in Swedish anymore. On the other hand, back in the days when everyone had to sing in their own language, Great Britain and Ireland had great advantage from the fact that most people understand their language.

I was expecting to see one of my fourite Melodifestivalen songs, 'Min kärlek', by Shirley Clamp. But it turns out she finished behind Lena Philipsson (took 2nd place) in 2004.

5:06 the song who beat her was an opera song called "la voix" by Malena Ernman (swedish opera singer and mother to Greta Thunberg)

Please react to "Caspar Camitz - Can you hear the wind - Live at Lykke, Stockholm" if you want to get stunned by music. I know you love Albin Lee Meldau. So this is Your piece of cake.. I promise 🙂

It’s kinda misleading, for example the 2012 contribution had that weird dude performing that swedish song but they didnt show the swedish song that actually won both in sweden and in the whole contest worldwide that year. (Euphoria is the name of that song)

Swedish singers often make an English version of the same song when advancing to Eurovision. I think they should stick to the original versions

Fun fact. Carola Häggkvist have been single for few years now, but say she cant find a new husband. She have tried many of the popular dating sites, as Tinder and other swedish sites. Her profile always got blocked/removed as fake person, as none really think it is her. After lots of struggle she have got one profile approved as authentic as her. First week she got more than 10'000 men contacted her (..but as all western women, no man is good enough.)

2:55 That one still pisses me off, she won Melodifestivalen with the Swedish version of the song but ran in Eurovision with the English version, and unlike most cases for the English versions of Swedish song this was clearly worse than the Swedish.
