Hi Madam, nice videos and informative.. I am moving to Calgary in the coming Oct month.. I would planning to travel along with family.. my kids are 6 and 8yrs old.. is it suggestable to come along with family and we will find school admissions in Oct or Nov? Or shall I travel first and plan to bring family post to winters in next year May?

Thank you, the school admission process is very simple. The area in which you rent the house, your kids will go to the same area school. In terms of winter October and November were not that bad last year. If you have proper clothing you should be fine.

Is it normal for schools to put kids in one grade before they were studying outside Canada? e.g. a kid born in 2013 should be in grade 5. will they put that kid in grade 4 if she studied outside?

No it’s not like that. They have their own cut off dates. They put the child in the grade accordingly. Doesent matter what year the child was studying in.

Government schools are free. There are a few private schools too that have fees. But government schools are very good.

Can we get school admission if we stay in Airbnb?

They do ask for proof of residency so I am not sure if air bnb will be considered. We went for admission only after moving into our own accommodation.

Just email CBE and they guide you thru the process. It’s pretty simple and easy.
