I have enormous respect for Sohail Hashmi, having learned to appreciate the history of Hindustan’s architecture, food, refinements of culture, etc., from this wise repository of what makes us the world’s most heterogeneous peoples. My gratitude to you, Sahib

Felix. There was no such word as Hindustani when "Hindustani music" was around. The music you are referring to is known accurately as Vedic classical music. Similarly there's Vedic architecture of India, known for its intricate stone carvings, various deities and iconography. These are forbidden in some cultures. Only Vedic culture allows depiction of deities in stone form or in art form.

I have just discovered Mr Hashmi so late. His aroma of narrating history is so relaxed and rich. Would request him to speak on history of hindustani classical music and Ganga Jamuna tehzeeb. Regards.

Hybridization is accepted, Rajma is common in Afghan and Iran as well. Your research looks in initial stages, we need further research. Sugar has long sad depressing history when it got into the hands of colonisers. USA Slave Trade and its plantations of sugar is equally gruesome. Sitar was made out of Veena.Amir Khusro was a genius. Globalization has been forever.I like the dynamics of culture in his presentation. will look at his other videos.

In south indian brahmin "shradhha". annual funeral ceremonies for the departed, no non indian vegetables are used. only black pepper and ginger, green bananas, some yams, and other strictly indian items, cooked in strictly indian style, without any foreign influences. the food is not as diverse or tasty, and hence not used on a day to day basis, but we still keep our heritage at least twice a year.
