Our shiny mast foot need a shiny area to stand on!!

We start the work with the renovation of the area under and around the mast foot.
We started this work in the middle of the winter to sand and grind.
We grinding out spider cracks in the gelcoat and do a lot of sanding.
When the spring comes with warmer weather we applied the gelcoat .

You need to stiffen up the body of this Hunter , it's a fast boat and narrow , very flexible. You can fix the cracks but they'll be back soon , lots of hull twist. Good luck with your project. And 11.5 ft beam on a 54 ft boat .... , you'll need to add some bulkheads. Did you do a lot of research on this boat before purchase ? I looked at one myself and had to walk away due to the mentioned issues.

thanks for your thoughts,we know about the hull twist and issues. We bought the boat as an floating project. This Hunter has crossed the Atlantic Ocean 3 times and after that just been unused for many years until we bought her.We have done small and big works through the 16 years we have owned her.

I don't understand why you brush the gel coat on. A roller would give a much more even surface prior to sanding.
