How do you know what egg's have chick's to hatch and which one's don't.

Good question! If you have no rooster, then all the eggs will be infertile so they will never hatch. If the eggs came from a hen exposed to a rooster, the eggs may be fertile. Typically after five days or so of incubating the eggs (whether in a machine or under a hen) you can candle the eggs and see an embryo developing inside if it is a fertile healthy egg. Not all eggs will necessarily be fertile. There's usually a couple duds in a batch of fertile eggs.
