A teacher here & a mom of a child who has had seizures. Make sure ALL his teachers (or anyone who has contact with him) know that he has seizures, what they need to look for, & what needs to be done if he has 1. Then make his teacher prepare the entire class on what they need to do if he has a seizure in class. I did this for my Kindergarten class. I prepared them for the 1st month of school & we went over it daily. I also taught them what to do in PE, cafeteria, music, art class, etc. When my student did have a seizure, my 26 5 year olds knew exactly what to do. They moved away, put their heads down, & sat there so quiet. I had 1 student run across the room & tell the teacher we have an emergency. She came over & called the office (I was not leaving him). This is the best scenario that could have happened & I am so thankful I prepared everyone. I told them that it is scary, but we have to be calm & quiet so he can come out of it quicker. We all did an amazing job!! I hope this helps at least 1 person.

Hey my name is Clayton. When I was little I was diagnosed with epilepsy as well. I have done the whole EEGs and did the blood tests. I was blessed to be free from it when I was 14. So there is hope. The Lord has helped me to use this as a testimony. I will be praying for him and your whole family during this time.

Hi I'm from Manitoba Canada. I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 1996 a week before my 16'th birthday. I really don't know what my triggers are to this day but coffee or caffeine is definitely one of them, Sugar, stress, and hormonal changes. Hormonal changes being a huge one. This last year I've had a seizure or seizures every two to three months. Seizures are absolutely horrible and I'm so so sorry you are going through this. I have had seizures that lasted over twenty minutes and the person with me definitely thought I was gone. No breathing, lips blue etc. I have the partial seizure, the Deja vu as well as grand mal seizures. And the anxiety after a seizure is insurmountable at times. Hugs to you!!

I’m sorry to hear about your son!! I hope your hysterectomy went well!! I had a total hysterectomy including my cervix for complications with bleeding. During this time my mom was being treated for ovarian cancer. This is why the doctors took everything out!! I will keep your family in my prayers!!

I'm sorry you had to experience this with him at such a young age. Our son was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at 9 months, he's now 27. In 2019 he flew up to Illinois (we lived in Florida at the time) for his brothers wedding. Unfortunately the day before the wedding he ended up in the hospital with pneumonia and Mom flew up to be with him. As she walked into his room she noticed the left side of his face drooping..he was having a stroke. They ended up removing a 2 centimeter clot behind his right eye and stinted a 1 centimeter clot in his neck. it took him a month to recover enough to be released from the hospital and we had to do a go fund me to raise money to get a car to drive him home as he can no longer fly. That was in January of 2019, in April his sister went into his bedroom to wake him up only to find him in the midst of a grand mall seizure. He ended up in the hospital and the seizure was bad enough they had to put him into a medically induced coma to get it to stop. Turns out seizures are a side effect of strokes and the doctors in Illinois NEVER TOLD US! He is now on not only his medicine from the cystic fibrosis but now has multiple medications for seizures. I'm just saying all this to say even though our son is 27 we completely understand what you are going through as parents. Our hearts feel for you in this difficult time of first seizure. It's a feeling I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy and you are both so incredible for sharing your story and getting the facts about seizures to a large audience. You guys are incredible and my wife and I love your videos. Thank you for the positivity and funny videos.

My son has febrile seizures. Which means they're triggered by fevers. It's the scariest thing. I'm terrified every time he gets sick. He just got over the flu and had horrible fevers. I didn't sleep, I just stared at him like a hawk, kept him on meds and when it was getting uncomfortably high I would stick him in a bath to drop the fever down quickly. I know exactly what you're going through and it's so traumatic for everyone. My son doesn't even like going to the doctor at this point because of it. I hope things get better for yall. You're in my prayers. ❤

My father had epilepsy that came on by a head injury years before when in his teens. Lights that flicker and rapid flashing can set off seizures. It could be brought on by almost anything. I would be the parent to test the waters (under the doctor's supervision) with the self-serve ice cream. Keep a diary of places, surroundings, activities, and food for the next year so you of process elimination. I'm hooing this is something that he grows out of. God doesn't give us trials to fail but to kearn, grow and share to help others and to bring us together as a human family. Enjoy life, love and live it to the fullest and have a blessed Christmas season.

Hi just wanted to say you guys are amazing, with everything you've got going on. I'm a parent of a child with a disability (my son has Duchene muscular dystrophy) and seem to spend my whole time doubting myself over everything. Parenting can be a minefield as it is but throw in the fact of a child with illnesses or disability and omg it's just off the scale scary... I've only just very recently found you guys and your videos and they definitely help me to smile, laugh and relax at the end of the day. Thank you from Clare in the UK xxxx

My daughter (who was my second child) had her first grand mal seizure at 16 months of age. I knew since her birth that something was not right. She consistently had unusual eye movements when nursing. Her pediatrician told me nothing was wrong, but that he felt I had postpartum depression..I made sure he met me at the hospital when the squad brought her in the er. He sincerely apologized. She had an EEG and a plethora of other scans and tests. Her seizures continued, and were considered Hypoxic. She is allergic to phenobarbital. So she was put on Dilantin chew tabs. Unfortunately she had to have finger pokes weekly for her drug levels. Once we got enough meds in her system she did well. The blood vessels to her brain grew larger to more fully oxygenate her brain. She was able to taper her off of all meds by the time she started kindergarten. She has had migraines her entire life though, but no seizures. She has been on seizure meds to help with her headaches throughout adulthood. She is now 40 years old. ❤

But I'm on Keppra like your son and haven't had one since, so he should be be safe with that in his system. Praying he is able to grow out of this!!

I missed your video live, but just watched it now. Following you from Liberty, IL (good luck finding our small village on the map! lol). Thanks for the video update. You have certainly been dealing with a lot! I sure understand that. This year has been full of doctors and hospitals, starting in November 2022 when my 83 year old dad fell and broke his hip. Because of that, we also found out he had a bad heart valve that needed replaced (he now has a valve made from pig tissue) and had a bladder stone the size of a chicken egg! The doctor’s appointments are just now starting to slow down, although we learned of another bladder issue at his appointment last week. My mom has severe arthritis in her knees, so doesn’t get around very well. I live with my parents, who are both 84 now, and had to quit my job last year to be able to be home full time to care for them. That has been a huge financial stress, so I understand being overwhelmed with life. Our circumstances aren’t the same, but we all at some point get hit with life’s harsh realities. I admire your openness and hope you get some insight from your followers who may be dealing with the same thing. I’ll be praying for your family that things improve and that the hysterectomy goes well. Hopefully 2024 will be better for all of us! God bless!

Hi guys, thank you for bringing joy to our family with all your videos. We did not have this happen with our child, though she had cancer at 19 months and went through all that until age 7; but relative to what your son went through, I was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 13 (tonic-clonic/grand-mal seizures; but also other types while conscious/awake, the belly, the dejavu, and much more) and I'm not gonna lie, it was awful for me and a real struggle, as I experienced the symptoms you described (minus the ice cream piece), but yes on the brain freeze, and also amnesia with a loss of memory of hours, completely erased permanently, and I had so many triggers. I learned to be an overcomer, however, and it strengthened me for all areas of my life. Proper medication is so important because some like Dilantin are awful, so it's important to get him on the one that will work for him. For me, Lamictal/Lamotrigine has been excellent. I'm still on medication and still could have seizures at age 48, if I'm not wise and take care of myself. Regarding testing out triggers, do it during a neurology visit with the EEG on, where it's a safe place, and they often purposely induce seizures for testing purposes. If you need to talk, let me know. But I'll be praying for him and for you guys and for all the doctors, etc. Love you both!
