That was an amazing video explanation! Although I knew my adult daughter has seizures we are trying to control with medication I had never seen her have one. Tonight while we were on FaceTime she had one. I was driving and pulled over to reassure her. She was home alone. It didn’t last long but was very scary to watch and feel helpless. She had a brain tumor removed 8 yrs ago. They are thinking the scar tissue may have something to do with the seizures. We have more doctor appointments coming up soon. I would hope we can get more education out there. It worries me that she would be alone in public and someone would think she was a drug addict seizing due to the prevalence of that culture in our town. She is so embarrassed after having one on the job that she took leave from work.

This makes me a little bitter. My overall seizure experience was very harmful and traumatic. The doctors blamed me for taking drugs, which I had not taken any. The medicine they gave me made me sick, in which I had no help or treatment for. Finally, when the first seizure started, my school did not take care of me properly. I don’t remember, but I knew I didn’t trust my surroundings to keep me safe.

@@littlephilly7537 aww. Thanks. I just hate that it put me into an extremely depressed state. But the positive side is that I got a lot better mental health after I accepted and coped with it. What helped me most was that it gave me humility. Showing me that my life is a gift and a privilege. And that it should be cherished and protected as much as any other life of any living thing. That kind of mercy can only be realized by those in similar cases like us. 😊think of it as a gift you can show to others. A new perspective on life always brightens up someone’s day.

I just recently got diagnosed with epilepsy at 23 this year, well just about a week ago. I had my first seizure January of this year, then my second this month. I had three seizures first one again like always started in the morning. But the difference is this time I kept having seizures, the hospital ended up sedating me after my third one because I wouldn’t have stopped having them. But I was put on anti-seizure meds and have now been adjusting to the changes not even mentally. But physically. It’s scaring knowing at any point I could seize up and it’s even worse that they do not know what is causing it. Sadly I’m afraid I may have always had signs because there were abnormal things I had endured since childhood that have surprisingly occurred more intensely right before my seizures. I never ever thought I’d ever have seizures. But here I am now having to learn about them because I am now epileptic

I have also learned that getting a DNA test done will help a person find the best seizure med with the least side effects or the test will show if a person is drug resistant like me. I had surgery done to reduce my seizures but what has worked the best is the medical marijuana. My seizures have decreased to the lowest point in my life.

Ok guys as a person with epilepsy I’ll tell you in simple term the brain fires a small shock to your body in order to do anything in you life a seizure is when the shocks get to big and takes control of you body also please please DO NOT TURN US INTO THE RECOVERY POSITION THIS CAN CAUSE US TO GET HURT AND potentially bite our toung I’ve had epilepsy since I was three and I have tonic clonic seizures when you have those people can’t move the persons body you cause all the muscles in you body are tensed up best thing to due is clear the area of potential dangers and once we are done seizing then put us in the recovery position. I’ve had to to deal with seizures all my life trust me not all these “facts” are true if we are seizing lay us flat if we aren’t and put something soft under our neck and head.

It happened to me a good amount since I was small. My mom called it being half alseep lol but I would be a zombie pretty much and not remember much of the day it would happen. I think a doctor called it mild seizures. I know in my case it has to do with my sleep for some reason. If I over sleep or under sleep I have a high chance of having one. Still wondering since I only had maybe 5 big seizures in my life what causes my epilepsy. Cuz I was cleared for all the main causes. And doctors couldn’t tell me.

I wasn't into sports but I had a concussion as a toddler. Diagnosed with epilepsy at 14. That first one, I have bits of memory in my parents living room with both my parents there and a neighbor who was a doctor. I remember I really wanted to get up off the ground and was fighting to get up and the 3 of them were holding me down. It made me so mad!! My little 125 pound self against three adults. My mother was a psychologist so she knew what it was but my dad was freaking out. The other doctor's daughter was having a sleepover with my little sister that night. They lived 3 doors down. My episodes seem to be stress related like physical or emotional stress. Like being sick, not getting enough sleep, not eating right, exams in school. I've had seizures when moving, (moving house), after being sick, once when I was terribly lost driving, out of gas and nowhere to pull over or park and I just didn't know what to do... so brain misfires and I total my brand new car, get flipped upside down and cause minor damage to 4-5 other cars mostly parked. I hate driving . I don't drink smoke or do drugs because it's just not worth it, I try to avoid conflict, but I do like nature and hiking. Grew up camping a lot and been backpacking it's stressful, but in a good way.

I thumbed down because of the flashing graphics (seizure trigger!), VERY irresponsible of the creator, otherwise a good video. Also he instructs to wait 5 minutes before calling ambulance, this is also dangerous. Ambulance should be called immediately.

I have seizures not epilepsy. I have a unknown nuerological condition that causes my seizures. I've been to specialist to diagnose me and they can't figure out what I have so they call it unknown. I've had grand mal seizures when I was younger and not so much as I grew up. Now I have local seizures where I am awake but I can't control my body. Most of the time I have slurd speech and blurry vision before a seizure. No medication has ever stopped my seizures. I even stayed in the hospital for two weeks to get tests and different treatments but they let me go home and taught me how to meditate and breathe. They tried several times. Sometimes I forget to breathe and I end up having a seizure too. 🤷 My pain specialist and nuerologist work together to help me. I have three very rare conditions. I also am autistic. I think the autism causes me stress and anxiety that causes the seizures. I also have trouble swallowing and chewing. I was also diagnosed with body dysmorphia when I was thirteen. When I was younger I was put on a feeding tube several times because of my nuerological condition. I am 40 years old and my doctor's still say I have complex and complected health conditions. I even have a very rare autoimmune disorder caused by a rare movement disorder called Tinson Dystonia. My health is complicated. It's almost killed me over 50 times in my whole life. Infections are very hard to get rid of even with antibiotics. I have a deep brain stimulator implanted but I still have seizures because it's not used for seizures. My deep brain stimulator implant is for Dystonia.

It sounds like you have non epileptic seizures. There's another name for them but I can't remember sorry look it up on Google hopefully that helps ( I had them for years) it's not nice at all . See You have a neurological condition which can cause them there almost stress, anxiety all negative seizures I'm saying this so badly sorry . I got mine because I got a neurological disorder got epilepsy aswel and then got the non epileptic seizures that don't have medication for. But found a way "out of the non epileptic seizure* still got the others but the non epileptic ones were so often it was not a nice time hopefully you can too some day ❤

High humidity and low atmospheric pressure is the reason why people get seizures! I found out because my previous seizure was during when the hurricane and I googled it and found out. Ever since I've kept track of humidity and atmospheric pressure my amount of seizures has decreased. Get a dehumidifier and try it out. Sensitivity towards high humidity and low atmospheric pressure cause it. Thats why countries with high humidity such as UK and Pakistan have the highest amount of Epilepsy.

I’m epileptic, I have clusters about once a month. Flashing light trigger seizures for some people. For me EEG is worst trigger of all, I go through about a fortnight of hell. Seizure after seizure, then for about 10 day so much adrenaline in the body that I’m feel sensation like nervous or anxious in such quantities that sleeping is made almost impossible. Does anyone else feel like this after EEG.

I know what causes it but this is a good video. I almost had a seizure yesterday (Xmas Day) first time in a while they had been well controlled (I have generalised idiopathic epilepsy and have myoclonic and tonic/clinic grand mal seizures) my sister is a paramedic and she was here I got the warning signs (muscle spasms and aura) and she walked me to my bed where I lay and breathed in and out and luckily it didn't progress to a full grand mal. It's so scary though the feeling of being helpless and it feels like you're body is getting shocks and takes your breath away.

I have a question if anyone can comment back, someone I know started having this and they started twitching even if they didn’t want to but I think it spread through the brain because after, they seemed to have lost consciousness and shake even more what does this mean? Second question why do they always say to not put anything in there mouth even if they are hurting themselves?
@kittycatmeowmeow963
@kittycatmeowmeow963 2 жыл бұрын
1: Epilepsy is not just a brain disorder, but a nervous system disorder. It spreads throughout your body, and is connected to your brain so it can tell you what to do etc. Imagine if the nervous system was an electric line and the brain was a big battery getting struck by lightning. The lines will have trouble working. Messages have trouble getting to the brain and back to the body. Sometimes, when you have a seizure, you might either have trouble moving or behave in a weird way. But when you're having a Grand Mal seizure, the sparks in the brain can make your body shake like you're being electrocuted. 2: Don't put anything in the mouth because it could probably break their teeth or the jaw.

When I was 12 years old grand mal seizures randomly attached to me and as I grew up my seizures evolved to getting worse, used to only happen when I was sleeping, but it evolved to start happening during the day, I get a warning brain signal if I didn’t panic I wouldn’t get a seizure. But if I panicked during the warning and I dropped to the ground having a Seizure, then it evolved again to where I no longer got warning signals during the day anymore. I just randomly dropped to the floor in a seizure. Eventually when I turn 24 I got the RNS system installed me I no longer had grand mal seizures anymore, but still today after 6 year with the RNS I still have some kind of partial or focal seizure. I don’t know what it is. It just randomly strikes straight to the brain, feels like brain blood pressure, pushing hard against my brain and my heart starts the race, I still have full control of my whole body. This seizure I have it lasts for about 20 seconds. It’s very scary.
