We wanted to soak in Mysuru’s rich culture and history, especially because this was Sree’s first visit to Mysuru in 20 years, and so checked into the wonderful 100-year-old heritage property, Royal Orchid Metropole. Day one of our Mysuru holiday also included a catch up with the city’s famous elephants who were practicing for the Dasara procession, and to wrap things up, a mesmerising sound and light show at the palace. No Balarama this year. Due to his age fact he is in Rest. Dasara Elephant lakshmi gave birth to calf.. in palace premises on 13-09-2022. His name is Dathatherya. Now totally 15 Elephants... in palace for Dasara procession. Parthsarthi is the smallest Elephant in Dasara procession.

Liked Sri's Excitement to watch Elephants taking a walk on the streets of Mysuru. This place has a great history and the King's of Mysuru (Nalwadi KrishnaRaja Wodeyar) has given immense contribution to our state. Be it KRS dam, Educational institutions and Electricity to Bangalore. We all have lot of respect to Mysuru and for its culture, language and people. Its one of cleanest cities in India too.

Wow…am so glad you stayed at Metropole. It’s the best property in Mysore, never disappoints. Do try the Shavige Bath they serve for breakfast..gets over quickly but is their best! And of course, dinner in the beautiful outside seating space. Enjoy the stay !!

Balarama elephant used to carry the howdah 10yrs back. Later Arjunu took over. But since Arjuna is 60 plus so now they won't give him heavy loads the responsibility taken over by Abhimanyu. Good to see my home town mysore & metropole hotel where we had buffet in the afternoons few yrs bck
