When Ida Scudder, a young woman of eighteen, was called to become a doctor in India she had no idea that her legacy would grow into one of India's largest medical institutions.
What she did know was that it would continue her mission of compassionate care for the sick and needy.

My mother, who joined the institute in 1977 to pursue nursing and graduated with a B.Sc in it, upon being asked of the question as to if what was the things that they had as practical in their second year, told me that they would taken to the villages around the town to vaccinate the children of the people there, teach them about the basics of human health and advising them what to do if they fell Ill - come to the hospital and not go to village doctors. This video evokes these words of her.
