I worked as a behaviorist for emotionally disabled kids in two counties for 17 yrs, and lost my career due to budget cuts the week before Christmas 2017. After the shock and devastation wore off from losing what I THOUGHT was my purpose in life, I realized that I've never been so happy and excited to have been completely wrong and totally devastated!! I'd been preaching to kids for my entire career that they shouldn't just do, but PASSIONATELY PURSUE what brings joy to their hearts and puts a smile on their face. The Only Rule being that they couldn't steal the smile off someone else's face to put one on theirs. What would I be if I didn't practice what I preached?? Therefore I sold most of my possessions, bought an RV, grabbed my dog, Ellie Bo Belly, and hit this golden road y'all know so well of sharin' smiles all over this Beautiful Bright Blue Ball!! I bring this up bc I loved when you said that you weren't doing this for your friends and family... you're doing it because it's what makes YOU happy. AMEN TO THAT!!❤ I'm a firm believer that one can't share a smile unless they're smiling first, bc how could they possibly share something that they don't have?? A person can have all of the money, things, power, and "success" in the world, but if they aren't happy what do they REALLY have??🤷♂️ I can't think of anything I'd rather accomplish throughout this precious thing we call life than living out my days happily... sooooooooo... that's most certainly the goal!! Love watching your adventures! Thanks for being fellow Smilers in this world with too many frowns and KEEP SMILIN'!!✌😁👌

The reality is you work full time doing something you feel adds quality to your life, you had the courage to move in the face of fear. Though the market is saturated, your unique sincerity gives you the edge in the market. You are reaping the rewards ar the work you put in and noone can accuse you of working 9-5. I feel like your helping me be a stronger woman. Thank you both so so much for sharing.. I'd be a patron for sure if I had any money. I've become disabled and for now I have to live through you both. My father worked 60 to 70 hours a week putting money away for retirement. Almost every time I ask him to go do something fun he always replied that he had to work, but when he retired he was going to have a lake house and bunch of toys for us to have fun with. He unfortunately died at the age of 52 yrs old in 2006. Later never came for him. I was pretty good about enjoying life to the fullest before he died, but after he died I was dead set I'm enjoying every moment that I could, working just enough to go make memories, and then working a little more to make a few more. I view my life as a partial retirement. If I end up like my father and later never comes for me, at least I lived out my days passionately pursuing what brings joy to my heart and puts a smile on my face. In the process making a ton of great memories, and as few memories of work as possible. I'm not putting down anyone that Stacks away bills for "later," I'm just pointing out that they should consider the very real possibility that later may never come.
@terrynewell89685 жыл бұрын
@@alwaysgazeup I think you've mistaken my thoughts. Have your best life, but put a little away for later.
@alwaysgazeup5 жыл бұрын
@@terrynewell8968 that would be awesome! Unfortunately for me it takes every last penny to have a great life, and then I work a little more to continue this great life. To save any money would mean more time spent working. I work just enough to live, and definitely don't live to work. Fortunately though, I make money by driving for Uber and Lyft in whatever city is closest to me at the time, and driving is something that most can do when they're old. What is also fortunate for me is I don't need a lot of money at all to live my great life because the things that bring joy to my heart (once I had purchased the equipment) are free. Like I said before, I work just enough to go make memories, and then I work a little more to make a few more. Trying to have as few memories of work as possible.✌😉👌

Now, 40 years later, I want to see everything America has to show. I will be building my van in 2020. You guys make me so proud to be one of your Patrons. To give you some insight into just how much your adventures and sharing them on social media can affect change in peoples lives... Due in part to Trent and Allie, one month ago, after working non-stop for the last 54 years, I sent an E-mail to the owner of the company, I was working for. Letting him know this was my two-week notice, I was retiring. I have been retired one month now and Wednesday of this week I'm hitting the road in my 24' Winnebago Sprinter RV. No set time to be anywhere and no idea when I might return home. Thank you so much for planting the seed. I'm not sure without following your adventure, I would have set my sights above the daily grind of just making a living. I have hopes of spending a good amount of time visiting my kids in Salt Lake. Love you guys! As a long time subscriber, I admire your bravery and commitment to changing course to experience this beautiful world we live in. At 69 yo, I only wish that I could have done the same when I was young. I think your videos and way of living, and I MEAN LIVING, can show young people what is really important in life. Many in life are happy to work at traditional jobs and may have no desire to experience other cultures or travel and that is fine. But, there are so many young people who become trapped in a lifestyle where they see the accumulation of 'stuff' as a sign of success or happiness. Later, they find themselves on that never-ending hamster wheel of work, sleep, pay bills, work, etc. Eventually, they become miserable and see no way out after years of existing this way. I think your videos are valuable to young people as they show another option for making a decent living while enjoying themselves. During this time, young people have time to decide how they want to live their lives. Our parents meant well. They taught us to get a good paying job with benefits and to be a loyal, hard working employee. Times have certainly changed. And unfortunately, that recipe for fulfillment and security doesn't hold true today. Many companies today are greedy and do not care about loyalty, hard work, etc. They want cheap labor, sometimes inexperienced workers. I tell young people I encounter to do what makes you happy and I tell them about van life and your videos. Sorry for the book! LOL. 😂

This video made me tear up! It's what I hope for. I just got the road full time. Not sure how long I'll be out here but, I had to try. Be safe!

Omg this was great. You should make a blooper reel video. Or a compilation of Allie sneezing. That would be hilarious!!!!

great video.. never really paid much attention to brookside in the store. it was just more fluff filling the aisle that I would overlook. Ty for making me notice them next time I'm in the store! I may just have to try one!
