I think yall have it backwards. Go back and watch your faces, hugs, laughter, and pure joy of love of family showing on those faces. YOUR NEW home should be your home. Mountain home should be your getaway home. Besides time will fly, and Leo will be starting school. He needs playmates and family close by. It's called evolving and change is good for what's best the family.

My humble opinion: If the new house is basically fit to move in, the cosmetic stuff can wait until after you finish the house, and possibly the casita and garage projects at the mountain home. That way, for the new house, focus is on making it comfy and functional to live in for the present and postpartum months ahead. And then, after you go back to the finished home on the mountain, you can make renovation messes at the new house. Also, the oak in the new house is beautiful. It could use a new color of wood stain, but the warm golden oak is not hideous and it can keep while you finish up existing projects and just enjoy family life and more visits with friends.

To preface: I am a tree hugger - and all my life have been a proponent of enjoying natural woods, so all my comments will be along that vein. In your "new house" - you have one of the most beautiful kitchens I have ever seen. Wood and natural wood grains are so special - I pray that you will hold on to them. The built-in bookcases - the natural woods everywhere - you truly have a treasure there. Too many people rip them out or paint them over - and later wonder whatever possessed them to destroy such beauty. I know my opinion is of no matter - but I truly thank you for letting us see it as it is now. All the best to you (no matter what you decide - it'll be right for you).

I lived in Oregon, where my friend still lives in a house built by her grandparents. I suggested to her to paint the wood work and I am so glad she did not listen to me. Don't rip up anything. I don't like the countertops so much, but otherwise I love the house and you have made the right decision. Just flow with it. Yes, the squares in the ceiling could feel stifling, but give it time. Breathe. You went through so much with your mom passing away. With a new child and Leo in his terrible twos, take a break. For you, Allie, you're already not in your home environment from the East Coast. I think you made an excellent decision.

And having a safe space to foster those relationships is the most important thing in this life. I think it’s clear how much you enjoy being closer to family, just in this one video. This was absolutely the best choice for all of you at this stage in your lives. And thinking about Allie’s struggle being without a supportive community after Leo was born and contrasting that to this simple family get-together, got me teary-eyed. Having a comfortable home in the valley, close to family, friends, medical care and shopping, will make a huge difference with this second baby. I love what I’ve seen of this house so far. My theory is that the quickest way to make your house look dated is to follow trends. Classic style and coordination of the fixed features, like the wooden cabinets and the countertops, will stand the test of time. This house is already cozy and charming, without anything added. It’s also perfect for family gatherings, as we saw in this video!

Go for it!! It makes so much sense for Allie, let alone Trent and Leo! To have close family on both sides to reach out helping is a massive blessing!! Congratulations!!🩵🩷💐🎉🎊

Please don't change the oak, I grew up in the land of Frank Loyd Wright and his homes are all over the Chicagoland area and people over the years would come into those mission/craftsman homes and "update" them and rip the soul out of them. Please, as a 50+ year old I really do appreciate a home that has its character left untouched or if added to done so with the same architecture design in mind.

I am so glad you all are putting mental/emotional health as a top priority. Dream homes are wonderful but that new house is what will feed your souls while you grow and raise your family! Congratulations!🎊

The new house seems perfect to me. To be honest, the mountain house, while beautiful, gives me sad vibes because of all the snow. It would bum me out, especially with kids! I bet you end up spending most of your time in the new house, which seems perfectly move-in ready!! Best wishes!!

Something I’ve kind of noticed a time or two in the background, but was really front and center in today’s video is that Trent gives really strong, heartfelt hugs. This is something I’ve consciously pushed myself to do. It sends such a meaningful message of love.

This episode is probably my most favorite of all so far. There is nothing more important than family. Allie, you seem so relaxed or relieved, not sure which, with your new home. It's going to be great for Leo and your fur babies. Plus, this new endeavor will give us all many more episodes of Trent & Allie to look forward to. I'm sure I feel like many others that you are a part of our lives. I always look forward to the next episode. Thank you both for inviting us along for the ride.

As a parent of teens, you’ll be glad your new drivers don’t have to navigate the mountain in the winter, and they’ll enjoying being closer to school and social activities as teens. Good choice. You could always rent it if you aren’t using it. It feels crazy when you’re in it, but it makes sense! p.s. I love all the oak in the new house! It’s easy to modernize with accents. The oak will be classic. Keep the old appliances too. You won’t regret it! They last, and any repairs are worth it. I love my double oven.

The trajectory of your lives is changing so it’s a marvelous idea- moving to the city. I feel the same way about the oak, It’s warm and inviting. Also I had that same double oven for 18 years in a home which 😅we had built for ourselves in 1993. I loved it. The bottom oven was perfect for cooking Thanksgiving turkeys and you still have the top oven for the potatoes and Green bean casserole. I would keep it as long as you can because they don’t make these new appliances like they used to years ago. May God bless you and your family moving forward.

I am a silent subscriber here. I have been watching your vlogs since I discovered it and really loved every episode. My husband is a handyman too like Trent let’s just say they are both “ jack of all trades”. I am a retired Maternity nurse so am aware of Postpartum and it’s really real. Hopefully you will not experience it second time around. By the way we are both retired and grandparents too. I loved how Trent loves his grandparents. I cried when I found out about your Mom too. Life is a blessing! You both are blessed.

Oak is making a HUGE comeback right now. I love that coffered ceiling, wow. Also come on guys, you know everyone wants the house tour!!! Seriously though, congrats. I know this will give you a lot of relief after having baby #2. 💜

Congratulations We love your new house and all that oak. Don’t change your old oven as they were the best. The new ones just don’t cook the same . We also love that you are a hugging family. And you are so lucky to still have your grandparents who are just so cute.

I am so happy for you!! As a mom with young kids you need to hang out with other moms, see friends, Leo is going to love meeting lots more kids, it will be fantastic! Heck if this becomes your main home and the mountain lodge becomes a summer place even better!! That first get together in the is just a taste of many many happy memories you are going to have there.

Good for you all! I think it is a great idea to have a house close to family and friends while your kids are young. You are very fortunate to be able to have the means to do this and can't be more excited for you and your happiness! You all deserve it!

I feel like I can stop holding my breath now which I started holding when you announced you bought the land to build your tiny house. I'm literally experiencing psychological relief. We went through your post-partum depression with you Allie so knowing you have extended family to hold onto with baby 2 makes me cry in deepest gratitude for the support you'll have. I would like to see someone else take over the videowork for the rest of your pregnancy. Someone who might even be more perfectionistic than you are Allie and have you continue your awesome editing skills for our weekly updates. Needless to say, I'm thrilled for you guys. This is probably the wisest thing you've ever done!

No longer the two of you battling the elements. Your babies need family, park outings, etc. that cannot be provided on a regular basis high up in the mountains. Personally, I would sell the cabin and embrace a life in the beautiful "Oak House" that so many people would give their right arm to have just as it is! Blessings to your families!
@christinevr76987 ай бұрын
That is what I am thinking too. Too many life experiences out of reach at that mountain location. The babies need to know big brother Joel, and spending max time with grandma and grandpa is essential!

I think it is a fabulous idea . Frankly I am getting snow weary just watching the mud and all the work controlling the weather . Yes! A lawn what a lovely concept. Enjoying a green space to relax and the real bonus is The Family ! So loving 🥰 May Gods blessing always be with you all . 🙏😘

Super exciting to see the new place. Makes worlds of sense to have a mountain retreat and a house to enable a more stress free come and go life when the weather heads south!! Congrats you guys. Allie your father will greatly appreciate the ease in which he can get to the new place. Worry free driving and I am certain there will be much less in the snow department.

I love the new house and think it is great your children will have a yard to play in where they will be safe without having to worry what wild animal may appear. Seeing your joy made me cry tears of happiness. I know what it is like missing your mom and all the fun times. I think it is great your children will be growing up with family around making all those happy memories that children should have to look back on later in life. Family is everything that matters.

This family gathering is every and all reasons to be living full time in this new home!! As your boys grow there is going to be schools, sports and childhood friends that are so important in their young lives..you can not give that to them isolated with 9 months of winter in those mountains. Embrace the blessing that was given to you and your family. Beautiful home, beautiful opportunities.

Allie. You made me cry, while talking about your baking with family. Leslie is 100% always with you. I have way too much empathy. For everyone. Im so glad you have found another home. Its a great space to host and live in while you are continuing to work on the Cabin. And a very comfortable space to bring a new born to. Sending love. Xxxx
