I am speechless, thats so great. For me wilderness is the most precious good on earth, full of biodiversity and beauty. Douglas Tompkins really was a great man, and it would be so beautiful if others would follow his footsteps and save the worlds nature that is left. When biodiversity is lost this is forever. Take a loot at the following map: www.wikilogix.de/wildniskarte.html Red areas are higly affected by humans, now you understand why so many species get lost forever. There is no room left for them on our planet, human spread is like cancer.

How are they treating the locals? Is the money and international interest in these ''parks'' helping the indigenous people there raise the floor of their society in a meaningful way? They fence off large areas of land for a 'nature preserve' but are they aware of the needs of people who were born there? How's that heartfelt desire to keep nature as it is turned into money and social programs for the natives? C'mon now people we can't all just airborne drop into another country with a lot of money and good intentions and fence off big chunks of it, bribe some politicians and forget about the people scraping by. *What do the military, the cops and the drug runners in that area think of this little commune of ''do gooders'', and how long before these preserves become the bed-n-breakfast ''bolt holes'' of the super rich who don't want to be bothered by real world problems?
