I grew up in Indianapolis near the old Washington Park. 35th and Oxford st. Met my wife and moved to Terre Haute. Love the small town feel. That's why i moved from Indy

I moved out of Fishers, too.... found a few acres to start our Homestead. I do miss Fishers... it's the best city I've ever lived in. Clean, low crime, lots to do... the idea of connecting public spaces and private neighborhoods with the sidewalk system is wonderful.

My parents moved to Fishers in 99. It was nothing but corn fields at the time, so I completely understand where you're coming from when you talk about the fast growth Fishers had these past 20+ years. It's a completely different town now. Love the video!

I moved from Carmel in 2019, just before COVID. I now live in beautiful rural east Indiana. I live in Randolph County. I have met so many people who have moved here because of feeling safe, no traffic, lower taxes, good schools, housing is so much cheaper!! If you want to visit Fishers it is only 1 hour 10 min to exit 210 off of 69. I lived in Indy/Carmel 30 years. I don’t miss it. You can drive to Muncie or Richmond in 30 minutes. Ohio is only 15 minutes away. Gas is so much cheaper. I will never move back to the city or suburbs, too much stress.

I am one of very few that grew up in Fishers-70’s/80’s. Very rural farm community. Cumberland road was a gravel road. Archers meat market, nickel plate bar and barber shop was all that was ‘downtown’. Hamilton SE was 1A school. Unbelievable growth.
@bethmichaels841012 күн бұрын
Yes, grew up same time just south of Fishers. When my parents got first phone bill, it said our area was “Fishers” and they said where is Fishers?!? 😅 I miss some of the “old” Fishers; growth isn’t always good. 🥴

I grew up in the Fishers of the 60’s 70’s. I still live in Hamilton County, and I understand change and growth, but I miss the quaintness and charm of Fishers, Noblesville, Carmel and Westfield. I attended K-12 in HSE schools - Kindergarten was in the original Fishers High School (now demolished), 1-6 in the elementary school and 7-12 at HSE.

I grew up in McCordsville in the 50's and 60's. My brother, myself and some other friends from there would occasionally ride our bikes from McCordsville to the Northern Beach Club to go swimming. Northern Beach was located just west of the White River off the south side of 116th street and had a U- shaped swimming pool. We would ride our bikes north out of McCordsville on Olio Road, across the reservoir, up the hill to 116th street, then head west towards Fishers. This was the mid 1960's and it was all farmland and just 2 lane country roads with very little traffic. When we got to Fishers, there was a stop light for then divided state highway IN 37, which was at the very eastern edge of Fishers. After biking through town, it became farmland again and then we got to Allisonville Road. It was a 4-way stop with a flashing red light over the intersection. There was a small restaraunt on the southwest corner which if I remember correctly, was owned by Sahm's, Anyway, just a little more riding for 1 1/2 miles and we were at Northern Beach. It was probably a 45 minute bike ride from McCordsville. There was hardly any traffic, and the scariest part was crossing IN-37. Fishers was just a wide spot on 116th street. Those days were the greatest and how much kids miss out on today although I can't imagine attempting this now with such heavy traffic.

I was born at Methodist Hospital and lived in Indianapolis until I was nearly 15, My parents both graduated from Speedway High School and my Grandparents lived in Speedway on a lovely tree-lined quiet street. My cousin owns a farm in Danville and wants me to move back to Indy now that I am semi-retired from nursing, I live in Washington, DC and I know traffic believe me! I prefer to live close to my work and be in a walkable location to grocery stores, church, etc. I also like an upscale neighborhood. A friend of mine in DC is building a house in Westfield now and she is very excited to be only eight minutes from Carmel and all the activities there. So much to consider. My Mother's sister lived in Greenwood and then moved to Sweetwater Lake in Brown county after she retired from Eli Lilly. I am considering how to go about this at my age. I love Indy very much and it is home.

Every week I seem to have a new favorite (usually whichever area featured in your latest video)! Lately though I've been leaning towards Avon as my destination when I win the lottery. I grew up in Greenfield and absolutely hated it. It was a culturally destitute hellscape. I lived in downtown Carmel for 5-6 years after college and loved the community and amenities. After meeting my wife I moved in with her in Lawerence. Not the nicest area, but it’s only a 10 minute drive to Fishers, which we loved. With a baby on the way we decided to buy 10 Acres in Fortville. Still somewhat close to the north side.

I live about half way Between Indy and Terre Haute. Property taxes 1 mile from where I live which is Hendricks Co. are like 10 times higher. With all the current construction going on and all that's still to come.. it definitely has me a bit worried.
