We have all made mistakes and we all still do. No one was hurt and nothing damaged, Just put it down to experience. Well done.

Thanks Nigel, that is a very good way of thinking about it... It has made us a bit nervous about the next time we take her out, but as you say, no damage and no one hurt. It’s taught us that even the best laid plans can come unstuck! But experience it is, and we’ve learnt a lot.

Well done both. Really enjoying watching your videos. Lauren your laughter is great fun. You are a great foil to Chris’s “straight man”. That’s a compliment to both 👍

any docking that costs less than $100 at the chandlery is a success

Haha😂 This is great, and very true!! We’ll count this one as a success then, loosely...

Sorry I did have a giggle at the thud and your reaction of sorry. You filmed it , stuck it on the channel for all to see ,and even did a replay. Respect for keeping it real.

Hahaha! I (Lauren) have had a good few laughs over Chris saying “sorry” when the boat hit the pontoon 😂 unsure who it’s for? Me? Himself? Or the boat? We have to laugh and absolutely we want to keep it real and show all the good and bad bits of sailing. 🙏🏼 Thanks for watching Michael

The main thing is that Chris immediately apologized to Indiana, haha. Nice channel guys, best of luck and looking forward to you sharing your adventures with us.

Haha, I am glad other people have noticed Chris randomly saying sorry too😂 This has been a source of constant amusement for me all week!! Very glad to have you watching, James x

As far as dock crashes go, that was pretty minor. We've all been there. I hit the dock the first time out in our new boat and still struggle with my confidence coming into the marina. I just bought a book titled, "Maneuver and Dock Your Sailboat Under Power", that I saw in Practical Sailor Magazine. Just arrived so I haven't gone through it all, but it has some useful information. Stay safe.

It’s definitely a daunting experience coming in and out of a marina! Luckily this was only minor and we can laugh at it a little and learnt from the experience. Brilliant tip thank you! Did you get this on Amazon?
@alofns3 жыл бұрын
The book is available on Amazon...at least in Canada.

Docking will come soon enough. Take the time to practice docking and getting out of a tight dock where there is a boat in front and boat behind and you have so little room.
@mikakari94983 жыл бұрын
No worries. That kind of things happen every now and then for all of us. 👍

Ah thanks for the reassurance, maybe the first bump feels the worst... We’ll pick ourselves up and carry on!

Great video....don’t sweat the bump at all, there isn’t a sailor afloat who didn’t have a little bump at some time. Most of us still do occasionally 😬😂 Honestly it was nothing and we’re mighty impressed you handled your boat as well as you did for a very first time in charge.....great job 👍🏻⛵️

Thanks for watching and for such a lovely comment☺️ We have definitely had our hearts warmed by the positive comments like this one, letting us know that we aren’t alone in having a few bumps and scrapes😬 Thank you for the encouragement and we’ll give it another go soon!

Really good video 😁, we have had lots of similar moments with the crashing 🙈. Practice and time on the water has helped us get some confidence back.. although its been half a year since we went out on our boat so its going to feel new again. Love all the funny bits 😁

Ah thanks so much for watching guys!! You are right, we just need more time out on the water and practicing manoeuvres like this... It definitely made us think more about safety and if we have enough fenders!!!haha But chins up and on we go :)

I thought you would make wooden cradles to securely support the mast during its bumpy ride on a lorry. Sorry but I’m non the wiser about unstepping a mast. Could you please include a narration for the process we are watching in the logical sequence of events. What job was that man doing? Do you plan to share the steering duties so that you both become skilled boat handlers?

Hi, subscribed as we're in the same part of the world. Can I just ask why didn't you hire a delivery skipper to take her to Brighton? I'm sure it would be cheaper and definitely a lot less hassle, plus you'd learn an awful lot on the journey.
@SailingIndiana3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thank you for watching and for subscribing ☺️ There’s a couple reason, mainly as the the boom wasn’t actually attached to the mast yet 🤣 The boat wasn’t ready to sail, which you can see In our latest episode where we talk through all our rigging issues. Also in terms of location, where she was in Norfolk wasn’t an easy place to navigate from with low depth and a lot of bridges to navigate through. So, we were advised against it by a few locals. We are glad we spent a little more and got her there safely and pretty much hassle free - well minus the small crash 😂

Sure, it was £39.5k - came with loads of work already done and loads of upgrades, so couldn’t say no! Be paying it off for a while yet tho😬
