Welcome back! Yessss to Broadway stage dooring!!! I learned to never buy Broadway tickets for the evening of your arrival day because if your flight is delayed or canceled, that messes everything up. BUT most theaters in NYC will "back date" tickets for people who missed their shows. Not every performance though; you have to call the box office around noon the day you want to see the show if you missed a previous show. If the show is close to sold out, you're out of luck. On the other hand, if you back date your tickets, you could end up in really good seats (e.g. orchestra level) even if you originally purchased tickets for cheaper seats (e.g. back row balcony).

Living vicariously through this once again! Glad you went back to see more wonderful shows. And the debate of breadsticks lives on - for me, it's like garlic bread but in long pieces but I think at the Olive Garden (not American so don't know for sure), they are hard crunchy bread.

Huh. Well the soft long-ish garlic bread is pretty much what breadsticks are at Olive Garden in the West Coast in the US. They're SUPER soft, actually, and covered in oil. Can't say I've eaten at Olive Garden in NY though so.... is it different? Anyone?

I’m so glad you caught harmony! It really deserved better than such an early closing! Just breaks my heart. Looking forward to your review of Harmony because I just didn’t get why it didn’t sell well. The only reason I could think of is it’s too dark for some people, but I don’t know.
@AKMorehouse9 ай бұрын
I agree Harmony deserves better than to close so soon… but I think the marketing and lack of previews on nationally broadcast TV show and events really hurt it. No Macy’s thanksgiving day parade, actors preforming a song on the Today Show, View, etc. to drum up tourist interest. Plus I know someone who thought it was a Barry Manalow jukebox from the print marketing.
@lindakahler47999 ай бұрын
Marketing was wrong. They thought that keeping their survival a secret was the way to go. Many friends didn't go because they thought they perished in the camps
@jyangtoho9 ай бұрын
@@AKMorehouse they actually had some tv performances - probably like 2, but one of them was the today show. I also know Barry himself went on the view and the Kelly clarkson show talking about the show, but I guess I would also somewhat blame marketing. I also think it’s the theater goers taste changing post COVID. They don’t want to see new musicals. All the shows with big names or based on a famous movie are doing well. This is just sad

I never saw the orig. production of Spam-a-lot, so this new revival was my first exposure to it. Leslie Kritzer has become famous for her improvising topical lines (at my performance, during Thanksgiving week, she said she was thankful for the 15 members of the orchestra whom she'd slept with LOL) Hope she gets a Tony nom. I LOVED it, hope you did too! I've resisted seeing Harmony cause I've read it's pretty downbeat & depressing. Curious to know if you recommend it.

To be fair, they keep their expenses as low as they can by staying with friends, some of the shows are comped with press passes, not to mention, the travel expenses are business expenses which result in more money-making content. So it's not quite a fair comparison. However, whatever the situation, I'm all for as many trips as possible. I've had to cut back on my NYC trips so have to live vicariously through others :)

Glad you liked HARMONY. I quite liked it last year off-Broadway, but not enough to pay again on Broadway. My weekend theatre score card (in order of attendance): MIND MANGLER - 8 🌟 out of 10 (very amusing; only mildly mysterious; nowhere near as stupid as previous "Mischief" productions). DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES - 2 🌟 out of 10 (major disappointment; Kelli O'Hara & Brian Darcy James - and everyone - gave good performances but were singing some of the least melodic, least interesting, frankly most awful music I have ever had to listen to in a "musical;" not one thing I ever want to hear again.) BACON - 7 🌟 out of 10 (interesting play, very powerfully performed; sometimes difficult to understand because of the accents; but well worth cramming ourselves into this tiny shoebox theatre.) ONCE UPON A MATTRESS - 10 🌟 out of 10 (a beloved, if silly, classic musical; brilliantly performed by Sutton Foster, Michael Urie, J Harrison Ghee, Harriet Harris, Cheyenne Jackson, Nikki Renée Daniels, David Patrick Kelly and Francis Jue; beautifully designed; smartly directed and choreographed; just a joyous, entertaining production. I second the recommendation for LITTLE PIE COMPANY. That apple sour cream walnut pie is to die for (unless you're allergic. ) Enjoy the rest of your time in NYC.
