This was truly heartbreaking. I cried when she cried. As you said it could have been worse, but honestly, you joking with her about it, helped her to not fall apart. Yes, it was good how he went about the situation. I've had family tell me, "If you don't laugh, you'll cry." You always have to look on the bright side of things. Especially when nobody is hurt and the tent can always be replaced. That's a very good way you put this situation. ✨️🫶💜✨️

Get a tipi , you won’t regret it , they are perfect for fire and safe . Obviously tipi poles require a large vehicle with racks , but if you can manage that , tipis are amazing, warm, safe ,and spacious , with high wind and snow resistance . Bamboo poles are light and easy to manage , it’s just the length that can be a challenge . I’m glad you both were not burnt , lessons learnt hard , are not forgotten . Peace from Australia.

Be thankful the two of you are safe and unharmed. Don’t worry about the material things. I was in our trailer when an F3 tornado hit. (175 MPH wind) It completely destroyed our home and I was thrown over 100 feet. I was hurt-broken arm, cut and bruised, my back was hurt but I lived and my husband and children weren’t there. We lost everything. I just thank God we all lived. You will be fine and live to camp again! 😊

I am an electrician living in Korea. All campers watching this video should wear a rubber insulator (rubber cap) hat to prevent the voltage part of the battery from being exposed. It really protects a lot. Electricity is convenient, but we must not forget that a fire can be started with just a 1.5v battery. - I'm glad the fire didn't start while you were sleeping. If you learn a lesson and forget your misfortune, good things will await you.

I appreciate your insight on their situation. I have a question for you. I think I might understand what you mean about rubber battery caps. Are they just to protect each terminal from short circuiting? Overvoltage? Both and more? I don't know what caused the actual fire in this video. Was it that the terminals on the battery were open to the elements? If so, was it some kind of electon charge in the air that causes the battery to powersurge or something? I'm genuinely curious about what would've caused this. Definitely too cold outside, from the looks of their coats, for there be any heat from the weather causing the battery to overheat. So, would it be something to do with the cool air/wind they were mentioning in the video, that wasn't letting off and was hoping the wind would die down, so as to go fishing, when they were eating? Any insight is appreciated. ✨️✌️

I think the fire was caused by a faulty AC to DC converter. Or a faulty device connected to the battery. So insulation may not be the issue.

Electrical fires happen every day, it was unfortunate that this happened to you whilst at the same time fortunate that it happened whilst you were outside of the tent. The main damage was to replaceable items. I understand the pain and disappointment that you both went through on that day, such an emotional thing to go through. Thankfully it wasn’t more serious and neither of you were injured in the process of extinguishing the fire. I hope it doesn’t put you off trying again as you had a beautiful set up and it was fun to watch you on the lake in the dinghy. ❤

The baked potatoes sounded perfectly cooked with the crispy skin on the outside. A good baked potato with cheese or sour cream and butter is delicious. They are also yummy with a tomato salsa. I haven't watched the whole video yet, but I am sorry that your tent caught fire. That is something that I have feared watching the various camping videos where people have a wood stove or cook inside the tent. I grew up going on camping trips each summer for a few weeks to a month with my parents and 6 other siblings and our dog. We had a trailer that had a tent attached to the top which was also a queen size bed. The 4 locking compartments underneath the bed held most of our equipment and sleeping bags. There was a zip on addictional room where we setup our camping cots that could be stacked like bunkbeds and that is what my siblings and I slept on in our sleeping bags. It could get pretty cold at night in the mountains where we went camping and exploring. All of the food was kept in the back of the family vehicle to prevent bears and other wildlife from getting into it. We cooked outside either over the campfire that usually had a grill grate you could lift up if you didn't need it to cook on.we had to clean it well before using it and sometimes we covered it with foil before putting food on it. We also had a Coleman campstove that was set up on a folding metal table we brought with us we did our prep work either at that table or on the picnic table in the campsite. We even did our dishes and cleanup there. Whenever we came to a new campsite part of the setup after the tent was to put up a series of canopies that covered the picnic table and prep table and the front of the tent. Depending upon the site layout they could actually connect which was helpful if it rained. Dad had heavy duty tarps and plastic sheeting that he attached to the sides of the canopies to keep it dry underneath them and provide a covered walkway which came in handy when you have 7 children and a dog. We always had a lot of fun on those trips.
