Just to clarify: Neville’s parents are not dead. They were driven mad with torture, one of the unforgiveable curses Crucio was used on them until they went insane. They live in an asylum full time and Neville visits them but they don’t recognise him. 😢

It’s amazing how, of all the things the movies messed up, this one is never actually explicitly stated incorrectly, yet nearly every reaction channel assumes they are dead because we don’t see them at St. Mungos and no one really listens to what Neville or Karkaroff say 😅 (torture/cruciatis vs. killed)

What a lot of reactors completely seem to miss about Harry’s behaviour in this movie, is that he’s going through classic PTSD. He went through such a trauma the last movie, in this one he’s showing all the classic symptoms of PTSD, including the sudden outbursts of rage, sensitivities to minor things the flashbacks and the paranoia. He literally doesn’t know who he can trust right now, when the Ministry and all the newspapers are branding him a liar. Harry is more than going through it, he’s constantly being triggered and that’s what this movie captures quite well. But still, reactors seem to be confused by his behaviour.

It's not PTSD, it's his mental connection with Voldemort fucking with his mind. That's why Dumbledore avoids Harry for most of the year, because he doesn't know how compromised Harry's mind is.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much of a G Dumbledore is. In the books he uses purely defensive magic and is simply testing voldemorts new body out whilst barely breaking a sweat. Voldemort even remarks “you do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore? Above such brutality are you?” To which Dumbledore replies: “there are other ways to destroy a man, Tom, and fates worse than death. Merely is taking your life would not satisfy me, I admit.” This is Dumbledore literally saying: I’m not just going to kill you, I’m going to annihilate you utterly.

Only Deathly Hallows Part 2 was originally released in 3D. If caught doing the forbidden curses against a person, it is a one-way ticket to Azkaban. Think of using the forbidden curse like using fully automatic machine guns which are illegal and only criminals use because if caught you're looking at going to prison.

Fun Fact: Dolores was the one who sent 2 Dementors to attack Harry and Dudley. Among Harry Potter fans, Dolores is hated more than Voldemort, the main villain😅

Voldemort's (Tom Riddle's) appearance already started changing before he lost his powers the first time (see the chapter "Lord Voldemort's request" in the Halfblood Prince).

This whole movie and including the great magic fight at the end was a spectacle in the theaters. The movie theater near me where I live now does a harry potter movie run twice a year on the retro movie showings I saw this movie 11 times when It came out. It was the summer I got my Drivers License and I would take my sisters to see the matinee show and get some money from my grandma who worked near the cheap theater. A great series of memories I will cherish for all time

The thing Voldemort ‘didn’t have before’ is commonly mistakenly assumed to be Harry, though it’s not The ‘thing’, as ultimately revealed, is specifically said to be ‘knowledge of how to *defeat* Harry’, which in this case means acquiring that prophecy Lucius dropped, since Voldemort didn’t have full knowledge of what the prophecy said before originally going after Harry He’s thinking therefore, if he knew what the prophecy said in its entirety, he might gain a new advantage The Minister of Magic does indeed correspond with a muggle Prime Minister Snape is specifically teaching Harry Occlumency, which is the counterpart to Legilimency, the ‘mind probing’ spell Snape is using, and shields your thoughts from it It’s weird they decided to show Snape’s memories that way, as Snape was THE best Occlumency user ever, how Harry ends up seeing those memories is different in the book The thing about the Unforgivable Curses is often mentioned, and there is indeed some validity to the overall skepticism of why it isn’t just used left and right, but it is at least sort of explained It’s supposed to be for two reasons; one is because the curses are generally very difficult to do (particularly Avada Kadavra); just saying the incantation and pointing your wand wouldn’t work. You actually have to have considerable power and skill as a wizard to use it The second reason is because on top of having the power to use it, you also have to have a legitimate intent to do what the spell is for Which is why Crucio doesn’t work for Harry here. He just used it out of anger, but doesn’t actually have the heart to torture someone. That’s why even Voldemort said here, ‘you’ve got to MEAN it, Harry’ Likewise, you have to have a very specific intention of murking someone in order for Avada Kadavra to work, which wouldn’t really work for good wizards, and even for evil ones, it’s easy to imagine they wouldn’t care if the person they were fighting died, but it’s arguable if they really specifically wanted the person they were fighting dead enough for the curse to work Voldemort also DID generally look like that even before being reborn, maybe not quite that severe but definitely not like a normal person, and definitely not how he looked from the diary. As you said, committing the crimes he does kind of ‘dehumanizes’ them a bit, and the more and more he does, the worse it got, and so makes even his physical form look less human by extension from so much of it The wand thing is a bit more complicated. It is correct that a wand can change allegiance, though not always. It depends on certain things. But yes, trying to use one that doesn’t consider you its master makes it unable to be used at full potential, among other things that becomes important later on

Voldemort's purpose? To be wizard Hitler, essentially. He's a racist fascist and wants to subjugate or even genocide the muggles and half-bloods, anyone who is not "pure." Ya'll had some confusion about what Dumbledore said when he confronted Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic. He didn't say "the Order is on the way." He said, "the Aurors are on the way." Aurors are basically the wizarding version of cops or bounty hunters. Also, the thing about using Avada Kedavra is that murder in this universe carries a real weight. There are magical repercussions to taking life, and that's why only the bad guys are willing to do it most of the time. I won't go into the specifics because I consider it spoiler-adjacent, but what it does to you is something a good person wouldn't want.
