Hey there! This is a video I've wanted to make for a long time now: our favorite two-player games! I often see requests for recommendations for games that play well at two players on Facebook and Instagram and I figured bringing Hannah on to talk about some of our favorites might be a nice way to get these games on some folks' radars! Every single game on this list is one that we find ourselves drawn to over and over again and none of them have started to feel old in the slightest! ☺️ Thank you for checking out our video and don't forget to let us know in the comments what some of your favorite two-player games are!

Hi Dave and Hannah! Wonderful list! I’d love to try Wingspan Asia for the solo option and two player variant. Have you two tried it yet? I’ve got plans! 😂 love it. That game is on my list to get at some point! Hey there, Allison! I just watched a Dice Tower review for Wingspan Asia because people kept mentioning the two-player variant! I am intrigued although now that I looked into it more it’s really not much different from playing regular two-player Wingspan so I’m not sure if it’d be worth the ~$45 on it! (Although the birds are beautiful!) 🦉 And Maracaibo is a phenomenal game that definitely feels like you don’t have enough time to get everything you wanted to done, especially when you play solo! I highly recommend it, though! ⚓️ And I know of all of those games although there are a few I’ve never played! I keep hearing great things about Radlands but haven’t ever taken a close look! I'm happy with Wingspan Asia, but I wouldn't say it's a must-have. The duet board does spice things up just a smidge, as you place your duet tokens on the board in whichever habitat you played your bird card- matching the symbol on the space (nest type, e.g.) to that of your bird. Some of the spaces will have a bonus (card, food die, or card), and you score points at the end of the game for your longest contiguous connected group of tokens. Some of the round goals also feature the duet board- have the most duet tokens on the edge of the board, e.g. It also does include 2 player boards and introduces a way to have a large game of Wingspan (up to 7 players). It kind of breaks the game up into two groups of players so two people will take their turns simultaneously (included is a small board to serve as a card tray, another to serve as a bird feeder, more dice and eggs- to accommodate two groups playing at the same time). And, of course, there's more bird cards!

I love 7 Wonders Duel (and play it solo a lot with the official variant) but Hannah wasn't immediately hooked for some reason! We'll have to give it another try sometime! ⚔️ And Caylus might be a bit too mean for the two of us although I do own Caylus 1303 and Hannah and I have played that one together! ☺️ Thank you for such a long list of some incredible games! I'll have to look into all of them! (Especially Rajas the Dice Charmers-I love Rajas of the Ganges although I don't get a chance to play it enough!)

Great list, Diewertje! ☺️ I've actually played all of the games you mentioned, which is pretty surprising! I haven't played Backgammon in forever though, and I wouldn't be surprised if we were playing the rules wrong! 😅 I really enjoyed playing Revive at WSBG back in October! Such a satisfying and combo-tastic game!

Thank you for your recommendations, John! ☺️ I’ve played GAH (it’s in my want-to-buy list, I think) and I own and love Castles of Burgundy! 🏰 Have yet to play Carpe Diem or any of the Clever games, but I’d like to give both a try!

Great list and great chemistry! Something tells me that Hannah will love playing Santa Monica and Fire Tower, two games on opposite ends of the spectrum :D Also, Dave, I think you're better off without a monitor off-camera. I noticed that you're constantly checking yourself out ;P Hannah's a natural, keeping eye contact with the camera lens. Or did someone have a gun pointed at you off screen??
@BoardGameDave
@BoardGameDave Жыл бұрын
Thank you, Tae! ☺️ I know only a little about Santa Monica (Hannah loves the beach! 🏖️) and nothing about Fire Tower! I’ll have to check that one out! 🔥 And yes, I was looking at the monitor a TON in this video but in my defense it was to see if there was any glare going on since we were showing the game boxes a ton! I don’t think I hardly ever look at the monitor in my usual videos! 🥺 And if I do, I usually do another take! Fair point though, and it’s something I really only noticed once I started editing the video! Noted for next time! 📝

Thanks for the game suggestions! And thank you, I had to make a conscious effort to not look at the monitor 😅. Glare was an issue, and we also worried (perhaps too much) about holding the boxes somewhat straight! Lessons were learned 😂

Hi there, Dave and Hannah! What a fab video. I like seeing your collaboration and hearing both opinions on the games. We play two player games pretty often and some that we really enjoy, and think sometimes play better at two include: Race for the Galaxy, Res Arcana, Lost Ruins of Arnak, and Terraforming Mars. Hope you get some fun two player games in for Valentine’s Day!

Hey there, Terry! Thank you for the comment! ☺️ And that's a fair critique for sure! I play over a hundred different games every year but there are ones that I just keep coming back to again and again! I do find that there's something to be said for consistency in a gamer's list of favorite games-I appreciate games that stand the test of time and it's hard for me to rank the new hotness among my all-time favorite games without a feel for its longevity! But yes, I suppose I ought to throw some more variety into my list videos! I'll work on it! 😉
