We simply purchased two Coleman sleeping bags that are a nice color and can be used as a cover, slip inside for a sleeping bag, or put both layers on top for different layers of warmth. Easy to clean/wash also.

Made a sleep sack out of a King size sheet that fits the front bed. Made the bed "pretty" for during the day by placing a quilt on top of the mattress, tucked it in once. At night, just unfold sheet sack, lay it on top of quilt and crawl in. Great for summer nights. May make a heavier one for cooler nights, or can just add a blanket.

I have a gulfstream camper, and the bathroom door simply has a 1-1/2 gap under the door. (Pretty simple) watching this because my parents have a Airstream. It is a nice camper.

We, too, have made some upgrades to our 2003 22 ft. CCD. 1. In 2009 we installed solar panels in preparation for our trip to Burning Man. It was way easier than I expected. The trailer was already wired for solar panels. I was shocked! Especially in light of how the designers had screwed up so much in the CCD (I could write a treatise on that subject!) The solar panels worked wonderfully and are still going. Our CCD is a 2003, so maybe your 2002 AS is also prewired for solar. 2. Also for the Burning Man trip, we bought 2 taller, higher capacity propane tanks. They are silver so they match the body. They would not fit where the original smaller tanks were, against the body, because of the forward slant of the body. To make them fit, I swapped positions of the tanks and battery. I welded a new battery box frame from angle iron to accommodate a battery box with two 6-volt deep cycle golf cart batteries (in series), and I moved the tank supports in front of the batteries. Works beautifully. 3. The outside walls of the wet bath are pressed cardboard with a layer of silver. Looks pretty but it wasn't long before our shoe heels started catching on the wall below the door and the wall started to tear. I bought a piece of stainless steel sheet and covered the tear. So far it is working well, and it looks good. 4. In the fall of 2021 I replaced all the interior lights and the exterior light over the door with LEDs. They are great. I wish we had had them for Burning Man. 5. The wall cabinet over the dinette had very few screws holding it against the wall and to the ceiling. I feared the eventually it would just fall off. I added a bunch more screws to increase its support. It was more difficult than it sounds. These upgrade are my top 5. Best to you, and safe travels.

Hi Michael! Thanks so much for watching and the excellent comment. Here's our thoughts. 1. We are also pre-wired for solar but prefer the portable solar suitcase so that we can "chase the sun" . At Burning Man - great sun. In a Maine forest, not so much. 2. I totally want to switch the propane tanks and battery like you did. For me, it's not so much the propane capacity but being able to add a second battery. It is on the list. 4. I too have replaced all of our lights with LED. 5. We have one overhead screw that works itself undone that I will fix. No other issues. Again thanks and safe travels to you as well.

Right away I laughed about the West Marine comment. As a life long boater I used to joke about going to West Marine and asking for a sponge and they'd say it's $1.50, then I'd say it was for my boat and they'd say "oh, a boating sponge, those are $12". This is a jest of course but relates.
@LuvSubbin2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I think the hierarchy goes Aviation - Marine - and then RV's in a distant third. I eventually started going to Defender versus West Marine for my boat stuff.

We do two separate blankets in our trailer too, but we don't have the pretty matching ones like you do. Also since we can get all the way around our bed (its not a corner bed) our blankets are much bigger and typically hang down off the side of the bed. Yours looks really nice organized.

My husband and I love, love, love your channel! We purchased a 2003 International CDC 22 about 4 years ago. While your floor plan is different than ours, your Airstream is the closest we've found on KZbin. All your ideas are so helpful! We have instituted some of your upgrades. I have a question about your European duvets. What size are they? Twin, double, etc? We are still struggling with the bedding in our Airstream. Thanks for all the great tips!

Hi Deb! Thanks so much for watching and the super nice comment on our videos. Your CCD was definitely ahead of its time with a desk in the back. I recall looking at the CCD and thinking "Who would ever work out of their Airstream?" Now everyone does... Anyway, Cindy did some measurements. Our duvets measure 53.1" x 78.7" which is very close to s standard double. We got ours from Amazon Germany.

Thanks for watching! The pendant light is a Tech Lighting Hanging Wok Model No. 700FJWKS. I got it from www.lightology.com I covered the holes from the original fitting with light wood putty which was a great match. I then just purchased a simple "On/Off" switch that I wired in. I hope that helps. If not let me know.
