Cavalcade was my #1 but a solid 2nd was Fun House by Hand Habits. I didn't see it on either of your AOTY links, but it's just really great singer songwriter indie folk/rock. Their 2019 album placeholder is also well worth a listen. Other faves include: The Night Game - Dog Years (loud 80s pop sound) Nite Jewel - No Sun (sparse ambient synth breakup album) Porches - All Day Gentle Hold (short album w some weird but somehow good 90s throwback vibes)

Awesome lists. Was surprised how few I knew - especially Rylee’s ambient albums! Thanks. My top 5 were 1. By The Time I Get To Phoenix by Injury Reserve (super experimental hip hop) 2. Jubilee by Japanese Breakfast (indie pop I guess) 3. HEY WHAT by Low (noisy beauty experimental industrial stuff I guess) 4. Imperative Imperceptible Impulse by Ad Nauseam (some of most kind meltingly WEIRD technical/avant garde death metal imaginable 5. Interstice but Knoll (vicious grind core with some constant grating harsh noise elements and mathy elements mixed in. Awesome) Black Country new roads debut and cavalcade by black midi deserve mention as well.

Nice! I (Brighton) listened to your top 3 back when they came out, and all were quite good. I wouldn't doubt that Rylee has heard the Ad Nauseum album as that's 100% their ballpark. And I think we would both be interested in the Knoll album... Thanks for the recs!
