@@joshuas.8239 Not dumb, it only takes a few IQ points to take the fixed costs that all their drivers have, the average gross for their drivers combined with the average miles per week, to then figure out what their drivers average net income is. Drivers might have a couple variable expenses like individual truck payments but you could still give rough net incomes and wouldn't be far off. It becomes even easier if they're talking about lease or lease purchases, because then almost all of their expenses are the same. Dumbest thing I ever heard was that caring about net income is the dumbest thing ever heard.

But if you want to be home as much as possible then you aren't going to be making a whole lot. Thats all there is to it, some truckers want to be away from home 24/7. Me personally, I'm trying to buy my first place, and I ain't going to be out 2 weeks at a time or even more just to spend 1 day at my home. That dude was spot on when he said “it’s not just about making money, it’s a combination of everything.” Ive made the mistake of chasing money. Did life insurance and final estate planning, was making 3k in an hour convo some weeks but was working about 18 hours a day to make it possible. Thought money would solve all my problems but I was absolutely miserable. Anything I wanted to do outside of work would take away from the few hours I had to sleep, so I wasn’t able to properly take care of myself and balance out my life. Got pretty dark spot during that time and chose to leave the industry. Went to two different companies and both were run by bosses who put in less hours than me yet complained I didn’t do enough. I have always loved driving and now aspire to take my funds and start a trucking company for myself and friends who I know have good work ethic and want to better themselves. These guys seem like genuinely good people, if the trucking community is anything like these guys, then we’re all going to thrive together. Keep up the great content. Thanks for posting this

Sorry to burst yalls bubble but there is no way youre grossing $40k/month as an owner operator. With the how crap the loads are paying, often well below $2/mile and sometimes even below $1/mile, youll be running illegally every single day. If anyone says they can get you this now either they have some godly contracts, will have you running illegally, or straight up lying. Its like the old saying goes; if it sounds too good to be true, it is. Stop looking strictly for $3+/mile loads, the market is not that good anymore. There is too many people taking cheap loads. My best advice is to figure out your cost per mile to run your truck and just focus on staying above that. Also dont get fooled into taking a load paying $3+/mile and do your research. Often those loads lead to dead end cities with minimal freight leaving. Which means youll lose your ass trying to get out.

I drive for an LTL company and we have a California surcharge to pay for all the crazy laws out there. I’m sure there will be a surcharge for Connecticut and it boils down to the fact that it will be passed on and the consumer will pay it in the end through higher prices on everything they buy.

THEY are telling you all the good numbers.....call THEM so they can prove it. Yeah right. You need to talk to one of their drivers or owner operators who is willing to show you several months worth of pay receipts. Anyone can cough up some exaggerated documentation...such as one where a driver didn't get all of last week's trips submitted in time to get it on this weeks check, so it goes to next weeks. And THAT'S the one they show you....10-12 days work on a weekly paycheck.

That know every trick in the book how to make money and cash out businesses not to say this Company is like that. And as far as Them having food. Does it make them a good company as far as I’m concerned all that is self-indulgent. What’s the likelihood that all their drivers will be at their location to eat free food any given time. Why wouldn’t they offer free meals to the drivers that are out on the road making them petty cash meals.

If this company sends there company drivers a 1099 at the end of the year, they are not recognized as company drivers by the IRS, they are considered self employed. Which means you have to pay your own taxes at the end of the year or every quarter. If they did the taxes for you and you got a paycheck then you would be a company driver employed by them. That’s too big of a red flag for me. That’s why they say their company drivers make 10,000 a month. Because they don’t take taxes out of there pay. So in reality company drivers really don’t make 10,000 a month after you take the taxes out.
@stevekeenan47262 жыл бұрын
By paying 1099, they are avoiding paying taxes and workers comp on you. You actually pay your share, and theirs also !! No health insurance, no vacations, no sick pay, etc...etc...

Exactly basically their drivers are sub contractors not employees. As a retired business attorney I hear the IRS knocking on these guys door and all drivers with get a visit too. This " business" model is used a lot in the construction industry. And it is illegal. You can't have an "employee" and 1099 them they are w2 employees. It these guys 1099 you. You better be saving 25% +/- of what you get paid so you can pay your taxes at the end of the year.

Eh oilfield as a company driver I was making 5k a week... that's 2x as much. So this is totally doable. Ran at 25% of load. Owner opps were making over 15k a week if running the same as me. They ran at 80% of load if under the same authority.
