Praying for the people of texas. I know the feeling because i've been there. It's been 8 years when my city got devastated by flood with 700 deaths. It was called the great flood of manila and happened september 27, 2009. Our house has 2 storey floor and then we stayed on the roof cause the water keeps rising and almost half of our 2nd floor is flooded. We lost our tv, computer and etc. but I thank god that I didn't lost my family, my whole family are safe and got rescued. It will take time to rebuild but I assure you all can make it the same way as we do. Now, we are living normally again and that experience will never be forgotten.

Unfortunately many people didn't buy flood insurance because when they purchased their homes in areas like Sugarland and Missouri City they were told it wasn't in a flood plane. If I plan to buy a home in this area, I'm getting it no matter what the realtor, or builder says.
@Cara-jo6yu7 жыл бұрын
That last sentence just hit me really hard as very inspiring and kind of uplifting: "you can always rebuild." It's important to remember that your life and the lives of your loved ones are so much more valuable than anything you could possibly have in that house. Is anyone else bothered with idea of praying to God for saving them without understanding that you believe God saved you then he therefore has the final say in who exactly gets saved? That means that anyone who wasn't saved God decided not to save you regardless of whether or not you asked him to.. anyone else have that issue.?

Antwan Nester: Why did God send the hurricane? The believer might say it is His challenge to our endurance and capacity for compassion for one another as He suffered for us, while the hard core and dangerous others see it as punishment for our ill deeds. Those who think that way are the religious "high and mighty" self acclaimed Saints who hear the voice of God telling them to punish others. They are the dangerous ones, and if it is a challenge to our capacity for compassion many in comments would fail.

When in an emergency your wallet and phone would be more important then family photos and sentimental items. Your wallet would have your ID and credit cards in which would be needed and your phone to communicate with family and friends. If it was me, I have so many sentimental items and photo albums the are preaches to me there would be no way I'd be able to get them out and stay alive at the same time, nor would they be a top priority. If it was me I'd properly forget my wallet and phone, my cat would be the first sentimental thing I would grab and not look back. Most people would rather have their loved ones safe and sound more then they would pictures.

i'm in houston, i was born her and have lived her my whole life and i am so terrified and shocked.. this all feels like it's straight out of a movie.. but i have it a lot better than most people. i live in the 2nd floor in my apartments and the only problems have been a bit of flooding and food shortage. hopefully we make it, and i pray for the people that have lost everything. if my family had a truck or some way we could help, we would be helping and hopefully those who need help find it. ❤️

Instead of saying how idiotic everyone in this video was, lets just be thankful that they survived and that most of us haven't been through anything like this

So devastating and sad to watch the news. I hope many more people will be rescued, and they will stay safe. My prayers for people in the regions affected by Hurricane Harvey.

I just don't understand how the flooding could get so bad. Here in Miami, it rains constantly and hurricanes are a very familiar territory but flooding has NEVER been something I've had to deal with in my entire life.

Til this day, it haunts me

My dad's a paramedic in Texas. More than likely he was there. We may not talk anymore. You may not even love me after waking your hands of me, but Dad, if you're reading, I hope you, Judy, and Brody are okay. I know you're in Hughes Springs, but I hope it didn't get to y'all.

I pray for these people. I remember when Hurricane Rita destroyed my town years ago. It's not an easy come back. We're feeling the effects of Harvey right now. My town is flooding over but it's not going to be near what these people got

It's sad that it takes a disaster to bring American's together as one. But, it's encouraging to see people reaching out to anyone who needs help, no matter what the color of their skin is.

Deswegg Well, if you were stuck in a flooded forest, hitting the occasional tree, and getting hung on vines or branches by waters moving faster than the average person can swim, what would you do? *Swim?* And no, I'm not making this scene up. Some people, like myself, live in areas mostly surrounded by forests, and to be swept through those like dust bunnies on Spring Cleaning Day is actually very possible for people living in those areas at times like this.

That's horrible, but those people needed to be evacuated before it got there.
@CJMusicNZ7 жыл бұрын
The trouble with evacuating so many people at once is that your create widespread panic and can cause even more damage if that's even possible. With so many people to relocate you would have to find somewhere for them all to go also not everyone would have to leave their homes just the ones that were effected, but the thing with natural disasters is that you don't no where they'll hit. The best thing that could have been done would be for every household to have an emergency survival kit and for any personal items that could be easily transported be packed in a bag that could be grabbed within a moments notice.

Michael DiMatteo: The Texas Governor advised evacuation but Houston's mayor negated that advice encouraging people to stay home. He grossly underestimated the storm.
@i_read_bad_reviews7 жыл бұрын
five381 he didn’t want us to evacuate because it would have caused gridlock and hundreds or even thousands of people could have drowned in their car. He made the right decision. A lot of our highway system is designed to turn into waterways in a event such as this .
@fifty9forty37 жыл бұрын
yes sir: He gave advice based on the course of past storms and in an interview admitted he underestimated the storm or would have advised evacuation. I'm not critical of the mayor, he did what he thought was right but it turned out wrong and it was too late when that became apparent.
@i_read_bad_reviews7 жыл бұрын
five381 but we hardly lost life , I am not sure what you watched but the stuff I watched he was standing by his decision to not evacuate. In past storms( Rita and Ike) they had mandatory evacuation and more people died in their cars than the storms itself .
