Goodness me! Trains are not usually like that, while Sydney is fixing the defects around the train network they should also check on the trains in my opinion. In an ideal world, TfNSW would grab the list of available seats on the Armidale service, which they should have, and be kind enough to allow enough people to get on the Explorer service to get to their destination and fill those available seats, as not everyone would be going to Broadmeadow. That would be too convenient though.

A way less extreme thing happened to me coming back from Newcastle on an Oscar. At Berowra we were stopped for around 5 minutes and I heard the ringing of the driver coming out of the front of the train and he spoke to staff at Berowra, but after about 5 minutes he got back in and it was business as usual. On Tripview it said there were "mechanical issues" but we weren't even told.

It was an 8-car train, and not very crowded. They could have split the faulty four off and proceeded with the remaining four cars.

Exactly what I thought! I overheard one of the staff at Morisset saying to the passengers that it looks like they may have to diesel haul the train, they should of just decoupled the first 4 cars and had that hauled back to Sydney and everyone gets on the rear 4 cars! Poor planning from Sydney Trains, as expected...

Could there have been a lack of train drivers? i mean if the original driver carried on to newcastle with 4 car set, the defective train set would’ve been left stranded on the mainline

@@tld8102 There are two sidings and a short loop alongside the up main at Morriset, but I'm not sure if anything except the mains are electrified. If the good set had been able to shunt the failed set into the loop or a siding, then decouple, it could have been retrieved later.

Dude, get a job in the police force. The way you spot the driver at around 17:55, slow the video down and get them on camera was seriously straight out of CSI or one of those types of shows. Keep up the good work mate

If you forget to Tap Off aftrr a certain time period I think it's a few hours they will charge you the full adult fare. instead of charging you the distance travelled. which IIRC is around 8 bucks

As an ex Railcorp driver I initially thought this train had overshot Wyee due to driver error of judgement as the train was coming into the station a bit too hard.

Where did they source the 4 car endeavour set from? how long did you have to wait. was the train just sitting in a siding or something

It was a set swap, happens every Saturday (from memory) Newcastle runs 7 hunter trains and 2 Endeavour's (Normally) So every Saturday 1 of the Endeavours gets sent back to Sydney. Sometimes Newcastle needs more trains, and so more than one Endeavour comes up (which was the case here)

@@tld8102 Correct, though usually it would only have been a 2 car Endeavour. They usually have empty services follow passenger Service (when they have an empty service), Just in case there is an issue.
