An angel was watching over your driver. Thank the lord he walked away. As a 20 year veteran of the steering wheel, that’s one of my biggest fears. I pray his recovery was quick. Bless.

I had a super single steer blow on a boom truck 20 years ago. It ripped the fender and headlight clean off. Luckily, I was only going 50 mph, milking the clock on a short day. I was going around a curve , the tire blew. I bear hugged the wheel, and got it stopped. Was a " cowboy" moment for sure !

Knew you were a praying man. You are blessed because you walk the Lord's way. Your driver, you can believe, was covered by your prayers and the prayers of others that pray for people like you. Trucking is essential, we need it and we need a LOT more people of your character and faith owning and running these companies like yours. I am blessed with the verbal and non verbal communications you share. I feel you are a brother and a man of integrity. Hopefully since this was about 3 years ago now it has worked out for the good and the driver came out fine down the road, God bless!

A tip to any driver that has this happen to you, that doesn't already know the protocol. Your first instinct will be to hit the brakes. This is the opposite of what to do with a blown steer tire. If your in the fuel when it blows gently modulate the throttle down till you get over to the shoulder and coast to a stop. If your not in the throttle get into it immediately and then feather it to the shoulder and then slowly coast to a stop. This will keep your front axel steerable. If you hit the brakes the tractor will immediately drop on the blown tire side and rip the steering wheel from your hands and pull the truck into the ground. I know it sounds counter intuitive but with a solid front axel on these trucks you can coast to a stop without losing control or even damaging the rim of the wheel by using the torque of the motor to keep the axel off the blown tire

You are tatally right but unfortunately first intution most always kicks in instead of defensive driving learning and this more often than not is the end result. Lets instead of criticizing THANK GOD he wasnt killed and lived to go home to his family

@@MrWisdom79 I Know and this wasnt aimed at you rather it is backing up what you said but a lot of people want to criticize instead of putting themselves in the other persons shoes. I was in a situation 2 years ago at night 70MPH on an interstate highway where a deer ran into the highway and hit the right front of my car locking the right front wheel instinct to grab the brakes first hit but then wisdom took over and I let the car drift to guard cables in the median with the wheel locked there was no steering it but had I grabbed the brakes theres a good chance in the mud I was in it wouldve barrel rolled. Thank God me and my wife both walked away unharmed. Car totaled but we were ok. Bottom line like you said LEAVE THOSE BRAKES ALONE let the automobile slowly come to a stop. People need to be in a situation before they criticize others and those are the ones I was aiming at not you you are 100%correcct in what you said

I'm a Tri Axle Dump driver down here in Western Pa. My worst fear is to blow a steer tire. When o e go those big Ol tires blow you go for a ride. I too had one blow out me on the haul road to the quarry and that was a ride at 25mph or so. I couldn't imagine takin that ride at 65 plus. Sends shivers down me spine.....

Ive had 2 steers blow in my career. Scary as hell when it happens and your first instinct is always to put the foot on the brake, which is exactly what you do not want to do. I'd be willing to bet you that is how he ended up against that rail. I did the exact same thing the first time I had one blow and ended up in the median. The second time I learned my lesson and geared down and kept the truck balanced and was able to get it off to the side.

It was probably 8:00 at night and the driver called me from inside the upside down truck before the police were even there. thank God he didn't get hurt at all I couldn't believe it, but wow talk about his adrenaline being way up. He was talking like I was going to come out with the service truck, and we were going to put the whole mess back together.

Before 2000, there was an identical bridge in Idaho. A driver apparently had a stroke, hit it dead center throttle or cruise control on. The bridge fell on the truck. Not enough body left to identify. it closed the interstate for almost a month and ( obviously) the county road that was on the bridge for longer. It was scary awesome to see. I have since retired ... heart problems, coincidentally, and some days I think back on that day, and realize life can end in 5/16ths of a second.

This should be a lesson learned. If you care about your drivers all your trucks should be equipped with reinforced roll cages to protect the driver.

I have the kind if sense of humor that would ask the insurance adjuster, with a straight face " so, we might not be able to buff this one out" and keep quiet until he spoke.

That’s good that the driver is good but it looks like you can save the motor time to build another glider

So glad he’s ok I’m crunnetly stuck at home after the same type of accident ( in Australia) I didn’t have any metal guardrail, just those wire things that just dragged me down an embankment and threw me upside down if it wasn’t for the load I’d be dead

Good deal that the driver is OK. I'm originally from Geneva, and am a long time Heavy Haul/Oversize driver. Thankfully, in all my years I've never had a chargeable accident, traffic ticket or DOT violation, and yes, luck does play a part in that equation. I've always run daycab 4 axle tractors with 20,000-22,000lb front ends with the big 425/60R22.5 tires you had on your T800, and it was always a concern what could happen if one steer tire failed, and judging by this video, it's not pretty. Hope you do some due diligence to see why the tire failed, I've never seen the tread peel off one before, those big floats are usually rock solid as long as you maintain good pressure and balance, the tread looked uniform on the tire, so I'd love to know the cause of the failure. Good luck, and glad the driver is OK.

Thank God the driver survived and he was in a huckbolted Kenworth. If that had been a glued, fiberglass rig, he wouldn't survive. People don't understand that machines will have trouble whether new or old. The bigger the machine, the more damage it does. Don't always blame the driver; there's plenty of other factors.

This is terrifying as a driver. Absolutely horrible to see. In 10 years I’ve lost a steer only once, it was the passenger side and I was passing another truck when it happened. Luckily I was just past the other driver and was able to get over on the shoulder safely and get stopped. Losing a steer is no joke, be careful out there guys, pay attention. The last thing we wanna do is get someone hurt when the inevitable happens. I’ve also had a passenger side, steer wheel bearing go that caught my truck on fire, but that’s another story. Stay safe drivers and take care of your equipment. Tires are expensive, but they’re far cheaper than an accident.
