You mentioned “fall under the category of bad engines”, do you have any insight on which model years fall out of that category?

Yes! Search rod bearing engine recall and there are a few lists out there, it does also depend on specific make and model, so if you’re buying a Hyundai in the 2015-2017 range it’s a good idea to call the dealership and ask if it qualifies for a new engine or has previously gotten a new engine under the recall based on the VIN. We always do this when buying any Hyundai
