Japanese drivers are so polite. Coming from NY, I rented a Honda S660 since it was my dream to drive a right side manual. I was surprised that in the ten days I was there, I did not hear a single car honk their horn. Drivers patiently wait their turn merging into lanes, they flash their hazards twice when you let them in front of you. I then made my way to Seoul and was greeted to the familiar sounds of drivers laying down their horns because they had two wait two seconds.

I've been told it's custom for workers arriving early to park the farthest away from the front of the job, so that the people running late could park close enough to clock in on time. Needless to say we could learn a couple things from Japan.

it's not just japan. In germany, or probably whole europe, honk is only used for dangerous situations. Honking for no reason, like because you're inpatient, is illegal.

@@UltraHQ Not in Poland, at least in the cities. Every driver here has come across a situation where someone was doomscrolling or otherwise not paying attention to their surroundings at traffic lights in their probably daily commute, and it is customary to let out a very short honk to politely say "Hey, pay attention!" when they are still scrolling when the light turns green. What is illegal is to distract yourself with a smartphone when you're driving - cars are not toys and lack of attention can hurt someone or something!

When I traveled to Japan for the first time like 7 years ago and at night saw some of those modified cars come out, some with crazy anime artworks and cool lighting I was surprised. In Germany we don't have that. I think in general making modifications is crazy strict in Germany but I'm not a car guy so not 100% sure how the law is. Living in Tokyo now for 2 years and still awesome whenever I see one of those drive around. It definitely makes me interested in cars as well. The people that are into their cars like that seem super chill and nice and it's nice to get caught in their enthusiasm of their hobby. Always reminds me of the good old Need for Speed games like the Underground series. So awesome

@@lakeshoresubtleties To get to Daikoku on Friday I paid almost 3000 yen each way which is about $40. I used almost half a tank a gas in my R33 GT-R driving to Tokyo and visiting A PIT Autobacs first (Feels like Barnes and Noble for car memorabilia and parts and other car things), and then Daikoku. I live an hour and 15 minutes drive from the parking spot so not that far but the stop and go traffic after leaving the highway kills the gas mileage. Even though it was cold, the turnout was quite high and the cars that show up are awesome. I made some new acquaintances while I was there and had a nice time. Around 8pm the cops kicked us all out for some reason.

Side note, do not taxi or climb into the area on foot, doing this will get the area shut down for the locals long term, rent a car and drive there if you really want to enjoy and keep daikokufuto alive

@@jeremyk3154 people go in a taxi and then have no way to then leave afterwards leading in some people to either try climb out or attempt to call taxis in which rarely works, this is a parking rest spot for people who drive, when I visit next year I will put in the effort to rent a car to get there

The younger people saying they bought their cars because of fast and furious both made me happy and killed me a little inside :') Japan has so much automotive history and influence on car culture around the world that its wild to me they would be inspired by an american made film. Why would it kill you a little inside? What is wrong with you? You must be one of those weeb who has unrealistic expectations about Japan. How lame. One of the reasons why Japan is so cool is because they're so open minded about outside influences from around the world & make it part of their own culture. They're not like the South Koreans, who look down on people of color, South East Asians & any country with GDP lower than their own. Koreans are so proud of K-pop "taking over the world" and yet it's heavily inspired by R&B & Hip Hop. Japanese curiosity for the world surrounding them is what makes Japan so creative.

It is absolutely amazing that 20 years ago, the Fast and Furious movies got much of their inspiration for their cars from the tuned car scene from Japan which heavily influenced the movies. Now it’s come full circle and the young kids from Japan of today apparently are more influenced from a Hollywood movie about tuned Japanese cars rather than being influenced by their local car culture.

I’m in Japan right now with a couple of friends as a graduation gift to myself, I got my international drivers license prior to coming. I’m rented a Toyota Yaris cross in Sapporo and I rented a skyline that I will be picking up in Tokyo next week. It’s been fun so far!!

This is the best video ever! It kind of reminded me of the movie Tokyo Drift Fast and Furious. I watched Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift movie when I was 10-11 years old and rewatched it again in my teens and I enjoyed it. Love the Video Takashii. Keep it up! 💕✨

I imported my 01 legacy b4 from Japan about 8 years ago. bought it dirt cheap (sub 1000 USD). Has almost the same power as some of the 30k usd cars do and still going strong. Japanese people take very good care of their cars so I think thats partly the reason why a 20 year old car was able to do trackdays and come out of it in one piece :D. Massive respect to the Japanese car owners and much love from Georgia.

Awesome video as always Takashii. Japan’s car culture is some of the most unique in the world. When I’m able to travel to Japan Daikoku PA is definitely one of my first stops after landing in the land of the rising sun. The cute girl in the Nissan 370Z Nismo😍. Takashii you need to do more interviews with more car girls at more car meets it would be an awesome video.

I love how everyone can express their own style in their vehicles they own. I live in California, USA and it's pretty heavily regulated on what you can do with your car here from modifications that can affect noise and air quality. Many people are profiled here just for having a lowered vehicle or tinted windows as an example and the police will find a reason to give you a ticket/fine or even force you to reverse your modifications at an extreme example.

@jc7741 Not the Subaru Legacy.. in Japan ive seen them hover around $2300USD+ for one of that spec. EJ20 model is around $10,000+ CAD for one already imported/resale and around $6500CAD for the domestic model/equivalent. Japan gets them cheap but dude in the video got a steal all things considered.

Great content TAKASHii! Back in 2013/2014, while I was in Tokyo, I met a guy with a Skyline (more like I hitch hiked with him) since you need a car to access these areas. He took us to Daikoku Futo, but it was closed down due to Bosozoku activity and lots of cops being there. We ended up going to a street drift spot in Yokohama, then ended up going to Tatsumi PA afterwards. Once there, I had to hitch hike off Tatsumi PA with another guy that drove a Toyota 86. It's one trip that I'll remember forever. Anything car related in Japan is awesome! I need to go to TAS again as well, and all the sick meets afterwards. I went to Japan twice this year already, but maybe I'll end up at TAS 2025.. we'll see. I love Japan. I'm the only one in my family that lives in the US and I hate it! I need to find a way to be able to live there long-term.

I remember going to Daikoku in the 2000s and before the police came, I got to witness rows of Nissan skylines and custom vans with rave parties. It is cool to see it thriving 20 years later!

Japanese car culture is great, so many scenes, many people even have cool non-Japanese cars that are modified and done really well I also really enjoyed Osaka car culture, but the thing is, everyone is so friendly and respectful, no matter what car they have, whether it be a honda civic or a Lamborghini

I was in Tokyo in September and went on a Thursday. A lot of cars, a lot of different variety of builds. Very cool to see. I was able to befriend someone who had a friend who was a local and owned a car. I split the cost of gas, and went with him. Very cool experience. We don't really have something like this where I live where people come in and out on a daily basis. Some owners stay for 10 minutes, some stay for hours. Would recommend.

Did not expect a Daikoku episode on here but that was an awesome episode. Japan really is in the 90s regarding regulations and modified cars - so more easy on drivers. Very cool people, cant help but simp a little for the Nissan Z girl :D

Japan is strict as hell. All these guys have to pretty much put their cars back to stock before the mandatory inspection (車検) every two years. And after the inspection they put all the mods back on.

Because I think Japan has started to follow the modern era, where Japanese people, especially girls at school, don't like English because it's difficult to change the accent of the letter R to L. The Shuto Expressway is basically a race track the way it loops and wraps around Tokyo. Anyone with a PC and a copy of Assetto Corsa can install the Shutoku Revival Project Mod which is a full on replication of the Shuto expressway with online servers. Run the iconic Bayshore route or the infamous C1 inner/outer routes and challenge other drivers any time of day because the servers are always popping. It's Tokyo Highway Racing in your room
