Bangkok probably has the Most Variety of Transportation in South East Asia! BTS, MRT, ARL, AGT, BRT, Monorail, Taxis, Ubers, Grabs, Motorcycles, Tuk Tuks, River Boats, Canal Boats, Busses, Black Cabs.

It rained like that when I was in Bangkok. I just love Thailand. I’ve been twice. I travelled it solo for the first time in February. I fell in love with Khao Lak. I’m going back to visit at the end of October. What a amazing thing to do with your girls ❤

@MrThatch69 where abouts are you staying? I only planned to stay 4 days. I ended up staying 9. I stayed in a hut called Tuaprodehome. Google it. It's stunning. Very cheap, too. I just hired a bike and drove up and down visiting the beaches, temples, and waterfalls. There's an elephant sanctuary, and I took a trip to the Surin Islands. Any trips you do get your hosts to book as far cheaper. I hope this helps 😊

Bangkok, the most visited city on the planet by international arrivals (Source: City Index by MasterCard), is the city of skytrains, skywalks, skypools, skyparks, skybars!! and even a golden pagoda in the sky (Wat Saket). I wouldn't miss Wat Arun and Icon Siam (via Hop On Hop Off Tourist Boat at the Sathorn Pier (right next to the BTS Saphan Taksin)). Chatuchak Weekend Market & Children's Museum nearby (BTS Mor Chit/MRT Kamphaenphet), Jodd Fair Night Market (MRT Phraram 9), King Power Mahanakhon Building (BTS Chong Nonsri) etc.

I know for visitors or travellers they hate rain because they cannot go visiting. But for south east asians, it is good to rain to get fresh air.

We are currently in Osaka trying to sort our house to use the metro, so I feel this very much. It was also easier than I thought despite needing to transfer twice. I am finding traveling with a 4 year old a little challenging (not unmanageable!). I'm wondering if I should have rented a stroller at this point 😅 do you find you need to shift and change plans a lot depending on the girls?
@TheHutchinsons
@TheHutchinsons 9 ай бұрын
oh wow! amazing! yes 'challenging' is the word! we have a stroller as a back up, sometimes use it and others we don't. yes we are quite flexible, if the girls are not enjoying things we switch the plans and change around, but haven't had to do that to much to be fair!

@TheHutchinsons ah so great to hear! We are flying back home tomorrow, I feel like we had to change up plans less than we thought. We started breaking the days in half, though: morning activity, siesta for about 3-4 hours, and a night- evening activity.

Thailand has many ethnic chinese like singapore and malaysia. However, ethnic chinese in singapore and malaysia speak chinese.

In 1930s, ethnic Chinese in Thailand were ordered to drop their dialects, adopt Thai names etc. Yes, it was a forced assimilation. Pad Thai was invented and pushed as the national dish during this decade too. I had a fling w/ a Chinese Malaysian and it kind of blew my mind that he doesn't speak Malay - borned and raised in Malaysia.

Pretty much all of Southeast and East Asia is safe. Even if you go to the slums in Cambodia or the Philippines, they will just smile at you. I think a lot of Westerners always have that consideration of safety because much of the Western world has a lot of crime in the cities, but in Asia it's just not a concern anywhere. You'll never catch Asian tourists asking if Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, KL, Bangkok etc are safe. It's just a given in Asian society that you have to behave.
@ThePatriot-gm1fg
@ThePatriot-gm1fg 8 ай бұрын
Nonsense. There is crime in Asian cities including Bangkok as well. Walking down Sukhumvit soi 3 at 2am isn't such a great idea. Chinese tourists certainly ask if Cambodia is safe. So do Vietnamese. Your comment smacks of ignorance.
@kayflip2233
@kayflip2233 8 ай бұрын
@@ThePatriot-gm1fg LMAO have you compared the VIOLENT crime stats of Bangkok or any large Asian city per capita to large cities in the rest of the world (including the US and Europe)? It's not remotely close, Asia is way safer. You don't even have any stats to back up your comments and have never lived in Asia you bum. You really think people are getting stabbed to death everyday in Bangkok, Phnom Penh, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul etc, just like in London? 🤣You can leave your wallet or purse in public and nothing will even happen to it in those cities. You can't do that anywhere in the US or Europe. You're really scared of Sukhumvit soi 3 ? 🤣 You shouldn't even leave your house if you're scared of that street - you wouldn't last 5 seconds on the south side of Chicago or north Philly. You'd be having nightmares if Sukhumvit is your idea of a danger zone because there are old ladies selling pad thai and fruit. 🤣
