Hi Paul! After spending a whole month in Thailand last November, I've noticed that I've become a person that I like more. I'm a more patient, more trusting, and more tolerant person. I was not like this before leaving for Thailand. Living in the States, you're always on the defensive due to tension caused by increasing crime, racism, fear of terrorism, religious intolerance, Karen-ism, divisive political party affiliations, abortion issues, feminism, mass shootings, illegal immigration issues, issues with sexual orientation, the disparity between the wealthy and poor...etc. The list goes on and on! Our news channels are highly biased, depending on which channel you watch, CNN or FOX NEWS! Speaking of mass shootings, last May during Memorial Day weekend, I was involved in a mass shooter scare at my local mall in Southern California! I was at a retail store inside the mall when I noticed everyone running in a panic out the mall exit. I was told by an employee that there was a report of a shooter inside the mall and we all had to hide in the back storeroom. While hiding and in fear for my life, I solidified my plan of moving to Thailand in a few years! Later, it turned out to be a false alarm but this was the NEW NORMAL in the US. Our divisive government will never pass any sensible gun laws to prevent gun violence in the US, and these incidents will just get worse with time. I know there was a shooter at Siam Paragon recently but an incident like this is rare in Thailand, whereas, shootings in the US are common occurrences. I am now desensitized to mass shootings in the US because they have become so common. Anyway, I agree with you 1000% and I am looking forward to my return in October 2024!

I understand what you are saying about Thai women. I have been with a Thai woman for 5 years, we were married last year and have been married for 15 months. My wife, Mena, does take excellent care of me and I her. We built a house together in Eastern Thailand but we travel to beautiful beach town locations. Beach towns such as in Phuket, Koh Samui, Hua Hin, and Boracay a few hours away in the Philippines. Because we own our home and paid for it 100%, we only pay electricity, and water. So, we can save enough money to travel. I am a 100% disabled US Air Force Veteran, who retired from a long management history in healthcare. My wife is a University graduate who taught school before Covid shut her school down. She comes from a long line of farmers and her family’s farm and home is near to us. I love Thailand. Moreover, I feel safety is important and I never felt that safe in the USA. You realize I am sure, the political climate in the USA has begun to separate people in so many ways and seems to have intensified in recent years. I always feel safe in Thailand. I find the healthcare in Thailand is second to none. Being a Buddhist myself, I find Thais kind, respectful, happy, and very giving.

I’m moving to Thailand next year as well for me the usa it’s too much unrest.Everyone is always arguing with one another and it’s so hard to build and establish real friendships and relationships in usa 🇺🇸.Like most people don’t even acknowledge each other at all there’s little to no respect anymore but I don’t hate the country I’m born and raised up in it’s just that for me Thailand will be a more suitable option I’m looking forward to Thailand 🇹🇭 😅.

Wow!!! You speak very highly of Thailand. I do agree with the fact (pretty sure it's provable) that it is safer than the US overall. The food is also tasty without cutting your life short by a decade if you eat authentic Thai and avoid constantly eating coconut oil, stir-fries, and obvious chunks animal fat. Surprisingly, for a small country slightly smaller than Texas and France, Thailand's geography is more than adequately diverse. There's mountains up north, central plains and swamp land, plateau flatlands and mountains to the northeast, and prestine beaches 'til your hearts content to the south. Cultural differences are also very distinct between regions if you have keen eyes and ears. It is reflected in language tonations and speed of speech, different wordings, beliefs and behaviors, and foods. Probably one of the best part of Thailand is its central location in S.E. Asia. Traveling to surrounding S.E. Asian countries, and even China is cheap and easy (plane and soon bullet train). Honestly, when I was doing my college degree in Texas, I didn't expect Thailand (or S.E. Asia) to come this far in development. However, when my Vietnamese friend asked me whether I was going to take up a job in Texas after I finished my degree through an internship program like he did, I said no because I thought I'd be happier living long-term back home. I don't regret it, although I must admit alot of differences require quite a bit of adjustment, which sometimes is not too comfortable (especially if you've gotten use to the ways in the West already). Anyway, Thailand and I believe most of S.E. Asia is the gem of Asia in terms of value living and I have absolutely no regrets about my life here. So I totally understand where you're coming from. Keep the vids coming and glad you're enjoying life in Bangkok too 😁😁.

Some Farangs have developed a bad attitude about the Thai women they meet in the tourist areas. They to seem to extrapolate onto all Thai women their negativity they have about freelancers and for-profit girlfriends The above is a very distorted perspective as most Thai- Buddhists women are loving and caring to their man. That’s not always easy to find in the USA.

I'm moving back to Cambodia for pretty much all the same reasons. I like your insights on the culture. I never saw anything in a Buddhist text about destroying non-believers or any saved vs unsaved kind of thing. It's like we're all in the same boat, so let's make the ride easier for all of us. The friendliness and lack of toxicity and political and social angst makes SE Asia so much nicer to live in than the west. I'm glad you're having a good life in Thailand!

The narrative you just espoused has nothing to do with reality. Buddhists definitely have a saved vs unsaved distinction, and in that paradigm, the vast majority of souls will never be able to escape the cycle of suffering, only the very few enlightened Buddhas are able to escape out of the cycle and enter into nirvana. Also, the only religion that says to destroy unbelievers is Islam, which is not a mainstream religion in the US; to make that assertion against Christianity is plainly false and amounts to slander. Also, there are a lot of mean and dangerous people in SE Asia as well, and there is plenty of political angst, and even social angst with different ethnic groups fighting literal wars against one another. I get you're trying to paint a rosy picture for your potential future, but be realistic.

@@dr.j5642 When I say saved vs unsaved, I mean the Christian notion of either you're saved or you burn in hell. Continuing the cycle isn't quite the same thing. There are plenty of passages in the Bible about destroying unbelievers, especially in Deuteronomy. The political angst I refer to is people constantly bickering over politics which doesn't happen because it's not really allowed. While it's an unfortunate situation, it still results in a less toxic political culture in public Khmer society than exists in America. As a foreigner, I know I have the privilege of being shielded from the bulk of political situations in Cambodia, however, the distinction remains.

Can totally agree. Had the same feeling. Me and the misses sold our house, left our jobs and moved to Asia. Just traveling for now but first 2 months were in Thailand. Life is so much better out here. It completely changed me. I was always agitated and cranky back in Western Europe. My eyes opened. We weren't sure if we would stay long term. But after 2 months we made the descision to start working online and generate income and just stay here.

Love this comparison video brotha! I’m from Southern California and everything you said was 100% accurate! You know I would love to see a comparison from Thailand and the Philipines from your experience. Not sure if you ever been to Philipines or if you’d ever go visit there but that would be an awesome video!

From what I heard and see, Philippines and Thailand are equally beautiful but Thailand is more peaceful with way less crimes. The advantage of Philippines are their friendly people and most speak English.

Great video! I’m hoping to make a visit out there this year to visit and see if it’s a place for me. I very much like the idea of a culture that respects each other which we are sadly lacking in the US. I also gravitate towards Buddhist ideals as apposed to western religions. And Thai food is the bomb. Thanks again, your video motivated me even more.

To be more accurate, I’d say for a 1 bedroom condo to rent in BKK will be $800-$1000 a month. Of course a 34sq meter studio condo would be 509 baht. A lot of factors to consider when renting a place. Be sure it’s walking distance to the BTS and the complex doesn’t rent out to short term renters on holiday ( Airbnb) . And my grocery bill is half of what it would be in the States . I worked in Thailand for 15 years, now retired four years in a quiet province city which is a lot cheaper and peaceful than Bangkok.

This is my first visit to this channel. I really like the straightforward presentation. I have been visiting Bangkok since before and after the pandemic. 18 months ago I met my Thai-Buddhist lady and for the first time in my adult life, I feel really happy and at peace with myself and the world. Buddhism philosophy has allowed me to be a better version of myself. That’s not always the case with American Farang women. It seems like in the USA, sex is part of American women’s reward-punishment syndrome. I love Thailand and Thai people. One thing I have learned about Thai women in general: if you take care of them, your Thai lady will take care of you. I plan to retire this coming year in Bangkok and we are looking for a condo on Sukhumvit between terminal 21 and Soi 7. We really like that type of condo which you and your lady share. I was curious if any of the high rise condos include a health club and other amenities. I plan to watch more of your videos in the future. Thank you for the positive perspective of thailand 🙏🏽🇹🇭

Hey Paul, so inspiring watching your videos. Takes a lot of courage to pack up your stuff and leave the states to live overseas. One question. When you left USA and moved to Thailand, where did you stay before you found the condo that you wanted to live in? I’ve been seriously considering about moving to bkk ever since I’ve been binge watching your videos on yt. Thanks! 🎉

lol. How true. Yes, Thailand is roughly 50% cheaper but he didn't say anything about wages. First, you can't work except for remote work and there is the timezone differences. I guess, if you are financially secured or have an online business then it's not a problem. Also, the food is cheaper because the quality is lower. Who wants to eat hot noodle soup in a plastic bowl? The leached chemicals can't be good for you. The cheapest ingredients are used like vegetable/seed oils.

As i said I'm from the UK and its very expensive to live there everything is going through the roof. While in Thailand its very cheap to live.I planned everything before coming over and sticking to my plan so i can enjoy my life over here. Thailand is a full package apart from the weather 😊😅😂😂😂😮😮⁹
