Just loved this video. I’ve been watching a lot of videos on Germany in the past few weeks because we are leaving soon for a two week vacation there. This is one of the best I’ve seen. You gave a wonderful overview of the town. But really it was also your voice which is calm and well modulated and the light music in the background. Thank you. We will definitely stop in Dinkelsbuhl thanks to your video.

Was stationed in Crailsheim with the US Army at McKee Barraks, 25km north of here on B25. Used to frequent a discotech here back in the mid 70s... Spent 12yrs in Germany as a surveyor and have surveyed near many of these beautiful walled cities/dorfen... Near by would be Ellwangen, Nordlingen and Alaan... Used to pass nearby here on my way to Augsburg to catch the B17 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen!

@@OurWorldForYou I thought myself 'fortunate' as I spent more time with the German people than I did with Americans in my unit. I typically spent anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 months away from my unit. I was stationed in Crailsheim but seldom ever got to stay longer than a weekend. I've surveyed from the Alps to 'Rhineland Pfalz to Tirschenreuth to Giessen/Ockstadt. One thing that helped me most was to learn German! That skill alone set me above and away from my American comrades!

That's nice, I like immersing myself in culture, but our trips to Germany have always been relatively short, and my German limited to 'Please', 'Thank You' and '2 beers please'. You also got to experience the different regions of Germany. Although then it was, of course, split into east & west' - a very different world.

That's fabulous. Has it changed much? Other than probably more tourists? It has the feel of somewhere that hasn't, but...? And where are you in the US? On a tour of Texas back in 2011, we discovered so much German history in the state, such as Fredericksburg. Anyway, thanks for the comment, stay well.

We probably drove through there in 2011. We stayed in San Antonio for a few nights, not that far from the Riverwalk & Alamo, and then I've got a photo of the Pecos River High Bridge on our way to Marathon, so that puts us on route 90 - small world eh

Am from the area of Noerdlingen originally and been to Dinkelsbuehl a few times. That town is underrated and overshadowed by neighboring Rothenburg. Probably a blessing in disguise, beautiful medieval town without the large hordes of tourists. Now at home in Oregon.

Johann, There's plenty of places in Germany that retain their original charm - we're looking forward to discovering more of them as we travel, but we have a soft spot for Rothenburg, and it's really good in the evening after the hordes have departed. We loved Christmas there in 2016, very different vibe to the larger Christmas markets. Not been to Oregon on our travels yet, one day 😍 Thanks for the comment, stay safe, stay well.

🙏 Thanks - Those lists 📋 just keep getting longer, don't they 😀 - There's some real gems along the Romantic Road, but then there's other German route's we've yet to explore. Let's hope that's 2021.

3:19 The red house is the old "Ratstrinkstube and there white sign on the corner whichs content is something like "This was the residence of Karl V. (Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire of German Nations) 15??", if i remember corectly

@@OurWorldForYou Nice that you learn German! Don't worry, even if your grey cells might nit be as efficent as they used to, it's still good to keep them busy. I once visited Köln and the Kölner Dom was pretty stunning, but i didnt go to many places there and the rest wasnt too spectecular. Ive heard that Koblenz has some nice Castles and fortresses though. Anyways, have fun in Germany!

Marlene Oh, the grey cells are kept busy with our blogging, videos and life - love to keep learning, but I wanted to know more that please, thank you, good morning, good bye, and two beers please - you know, the essentials. It's good fun and nice to see where some of our English language came from in those Anglo-Saxon times after the Romans left. The Kölner Dom is impressive, although we only visited on in 2015, our 7th time. We've enjoyed a lot of Germany, and plan to visit much more over the coming years. All the best, Gary & Janis

@@OurWorldForYou I always find the relation of Anglo-Saxon languages intresting too. I am from Lower Saxony and the dialects here (Plattdüütch and Frisian) are pretty similar to Dutch while Dutch is more similar to English than German. I understand a tiny bit of all these languages and you can really see how they all derived from each other.
