Radiator is sucking 200+degree air after you are at running temps. Then you'll be sandwiched between that and the hot manifold. Then....heat "soak" is no "joke" happens. Plenum smart...sucking hot air not so smart. It does suck that there isn't a "bolt on" way to do a proper intake on these cars. You're still on oem torque mount? Get e-focus mount or polybush insert. It's one of the best mods for p1.

Which transfers a huge amount of engine vibration to the body... No thanks. Been there done that. I do not recommend them for any street-driven daily driver.

You really need that air filter in front of the radiator. Its pulling hot air straight from the fan

@@ShiftingLanes put the stock airbox back in. It's a cold air intake and can support somewhere in the region of 400hp. It also means you don't have to hear the cbv when you left off the throttle.

Yes that is such a glaring error from whoever designed that intake system. Have you monitored the air intake temperature when you're driving hard? It must be astronomic negating any benefit from that expensive intercooler, a fair chunk of power to be recovered when you get ambient air into the filter, another thing you can do is fit a small refrigeration evaporator into the air intake,I am surprised Elevate never thought of that when they designed that very expensive plenum chamber ,it was done 13 years ago on a famous yellow 500 bhp C30 !

To day i put my mother’s V70 on jack stands to check for oil leaks after i discovered a oil puddle on garage floor and this after she hit parts of a “table/desk” on the Freeway doing 100km/h. There where a lot of oil on the under side of the car 1/4 of the subframe was covered in it (”såg ut som kriget”), but no traceable leak even ran the engine up to operating temperature to see if it would leak with pressure in the system NO LEAK. I started to feel ill by then so my dad wiped the oil off, we filled it up with oil NO LEAK. So we decided to just let the car be run like normal and then the front license plate holder broke off, WTF! So we tried to unbolt the bolts that where holding the license plate holder before it broke off, I guess (about) 350 000 km and 18 years in Swedish climate has taken its toll on some of the things. But the bolts just slipped, so if we want to fix it properly we will have to disassemble the whole front end....

Stavfel en är fixade och jag uppskattar din till rätta visning, jag råkar nämligen ha ett "lättare fall" av dyslexi, något jag jobbat hårt med att tona ner. Have you considered putting an OEM R-Design body kit on it? I'm loving your build but that chrome "lipstick" grill surround makes the car look a bit dated IMO. I've got an R-Design V50 with the brushed aluminum lipstick on it, really brings the car up to date IMO. Keep up the great work!

Noahmrv the kit is already on it. His is a 2008 2.0, the 09s are called the R design.

Jonathan Cahill not sure I understand lol. Did the pre-facelift (pre 2009) P1s not come with an R-Design upgrade option? Or does he already have it, and is different from the post-facelift R-Design package?

Noahmrv his 2008 wasn’t called R design, it was called version 2.0, which was changed in 2009. He has the body kit; just no other R design options like the interior setup. The grille is the same, just missing the badge.

As soon as finances allow, you might want to consider investing in some better lighting for your indoor shots. Example: The close-up shots of the new lower intake (8:05). Note the digital "rain" look on the floor and surrounding area. Yes, I know it's an edited software close-up, but better lighting would have cleaned that shot up immensely. Cheers.

Were you able to remove the engine cover without removing the turbo intake pipe? If so, how?

Careful manipulation of the intake pipe and flexing the engine cover very gently. The bigger issue was dropping 2 of the engine cover bolts into the endless abyss of the engine bay.

In hindsight the stock airbox is the most efficient air intake. But the elevate makes more induction noise and that's fun on a back road rip. The old butt dyno says the results are significant. The actual dyno will have to wait until after covid clears up.

From my understanding it helps sharpen throttle response. The black c30 I reviewed at the dragon had it and cams and he said it gained him some decent power.
