My mother died in 1996, and therefore was not at my wedding in 2010. My partner placed an empty chair at the top end of the wedding breakfast table with a display of flowers on it's seat, because he knew how emotional I would be not having her there with me. He then arranged for the first background track to be played, which was one of my late mothers songs. The wedding guest around the table who knew the meaning of these gestures were all balling their eyes out (including the male guests!). My husbands spanish parent (who do not speak english) when told at the time of the gesture, also broke down. Has a man also, I am proud that there are other men among us who do not fear showing there emotions, and are 'discreetly' admired by those among us who simply cannot.

He came to our house with flowers chocolates and wine and wanted the arrangement with me. He was 6 years older than me and I just graduated high school. He tried so many times but my father wouldn’t allow it. We never connected, for years he asked about me. He and his brother became millionaires and they both died in their early 40s with cancer. I didn’t know you lived in Massachusetts. I was like, hey that looks like Hammond Castle. Wait a sec, that IS Hammond Castle! I was married at Hammond Castle in 2009. It is a magical place. I also recognized the Newburyport boardwalk and town square. I have been walking up and down that boardwalk since I was a kid. I had my engagement photos there.
