I always add extra pasta to the macaroni and cheese. It's always more cheese than pasta in the box. No matter what brand it is.

My mom used to stretch the mac and cheese by adding more noodles to the pot, too! She didn't like it too saucy either! :)

🤣 blue hands from chalk. Yep! BTDT. My eldest and I said the EXACT same thing about the Mac n cheese-- it seems like there is more cheese than noodles!

Just add a few more noodles I don't eat those packages of macaroni and cheese I prefer Velveeta and shells when I get coupons or they are on sale the store I can get them cheaper than Kraft or off-brand

I've been fortunate I've never used a food bank,. Your meals looked great. Plenty of food. I'm curious how much you would spend on average in a month for your family?
@weepingwillowhomestead2 жыл бұрын
We are currently (with the crazy inflation) spending between $400 and $500 a month. Some times a little more or less.
@debbieframpton38572 жыл бұрын
@@weepingwillowhomestead , That still sounds cheap to me for the amount of people you are feeding
@weepingwillowhomestead2 жыл бұрын
We are able to supplement some with homegrown produce and eggs but only a fraction. A lot of people try to stick to $100 per person per month for anyone 10 and up.

Love your kitchen rug! Did you make it?
@weepingwillowhomestead2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. 😊 I did make it. I've got 3 scrap yarn rugs that I crocheted in my kitchen and 1 in the bathroom.

@@weepingwillowhomestead It's beautiful!! I too have crocheted smaller rugs and placements with recycled fabric.

How long do you think you could stretch with only getting food from the food bank?
@weepingwillowhomestead2 жыл бұрын
It completely depends on what I have left. If I have meats but no veggies or all veggies but no meat, then not too long. Maybe a week of decently balanced meals. I try to keep it balanced so if we have an emergency (illness, weather, etc) we could go for a couple weeks but the meals would progressively get less balanced. Lol

Yes, I am type two. I had gestational diabetes with my last 3 pregnancies and it just didn't go away. I can eat small amounts of the higher carb veggies but for sure avoid potatoes and all grains.
