Like, Imu exists as the creator of an extremely corrupt system, and Garling usurps him and becomes the ultimate culmination of evil born from that system. Plus it would be kind of interesting if that was Luffy's endgame villain given their shared connection to Shanks. ESPECIALLY if Garling does end up being the one to kill Shanks.

Eh, I personally don’t like this theory as it would just undermine all the build up Imu has had. Imu was only recently revealed to be the man who has ruled the world from the shadows for over 800 years and the one who defeated Joyboy and the ancient kingdom then to just have him get killed by Shanks dad is just basically the same thing Kishimoto did with Kaguya and Madara. Which gave us one of the worst possible endings ever to great series wouldn't wanna se Oda flop the ending the same way.

So unlike Kaguya, he wouldn't just appear out of nowhere like she did. Plus, Kaguya's biggest problem is that she has no character. She's just an evil force that pops out of nowhere. Garling already has a more established character than she does, and if Oda did make him the main villain, I have no doubt he'll put in the work to make Garling a compelling character to make it work. To be clear, this isn't something I'm hoping happens, it's literally just an idea that popped into my head that I thought had the potential to be compelling.

Hey Liam, I've recently started looking into Bajrang, the name of the attack Luffy used to defeat Kaido. Apparently he is a monkey god, which is an obvious connection to Luffy. I thought that it was basically it. Then I learned that he is also son of the wind deity, a connection to the Luffy/Dragon relation. Bajrang is also considered a reincarnation of Shiva, who is the god of destruction and recreation of the world, a paralel to Luffy's whole of destryoing the current world and make something different, maybe like Joy Boy tried to do. Shiva is also known for it's characteristic musical instrument, a drum that, when played, generates spiritual energy. Also it bring destruction when it breaks, which might hint to Luffy possibly dying at the end, which I highly doubt because it ruins the party at the end of the manga. I haven't seen any One Piece content creator talking about this. Might be an interesting topic for a video. If there are already any videos/threads about it and people could link me to those I would be thankful.

What I find almost surprised about is how in Garling's anime debut, people were shocked that he didn't have red hair. While its not the sheer white of say Garp's aged hair, it being red would be a weird jump. Especially in the manga we see Shank's hair is a deeper shade while Garling's is uncolored.

Personally, I never started referring to them as Elder "Planets" after the reveal, because even in fiction/fantasy, it isn't uncommon for Planets to be called "Stars", take Final Fantasy 14 for example, their planet is often referred to as their "Star". And it doesn't make sense at all to change it to "Elder Planets" after we have gone nearly 30 years calling them "Elder Stars", so I am gonna keep calling them Elder Stars. Not to mention, if you take the real world, you don't call a celebrity a "Planet", of course you refer to them as "Stars".

1) I honestly want to see a long fight with Garling and Shanks (though Dragon would be cool there, I admit) 2) If Garling is the one who trained the Holy Knights, and the Holy Knights feed into the Elder Stars, is there a chance Garling trained the Five Elder Stars as we knew them? Either that, or they all were Holy Knights together, or at least Ju Peter could've been a peer/student of Garling's. That would explain his reaction. Two things: 1) I don't think Buggy would allow Shanks to die. They were meant to see the One Piece, together. Plus, if conqueror users have the ability to impact those around them, then I expect Buggy to unlock it (He probably is a Nepo baby too haha) and awaken his devil fruit. Maybe that occurs in a moment to save Shanks from being killed? 2) If Father Garland wants to establish his position and show the other elders that he is better, he will probably launch an attack on Elbaf with the other knights. For what reason? Maybe to kidnap Luffy/Sun God? If Blackbeard knows how to steal devil fruits (Whitebeard), it would be safe to assume that those in higher power know as well, so maybe they want to steal Luffy's Devil Fruit.

I'm pretty certain the fact of Garling being moon-based has been touched upon before for the idea of the world's 'Long night', but in this new series of events - I feel it also touches upon the fact he's the 'closest' to the world, whereas the other Five Elders are more removed from the affairs of the world. That and of course the Moon affecting the sea, Garling is sure to do just that in his own way - politically, military, or otherwise.

What makes Garling so compelling and feel so natural entering the story is because One Piece has for decades shown its world is growing and changing constantly, whether we're privy to it or not. Also, like the admirals to a degree, Garling essentially lives in that protagonist role, except for the opposite faction. Not antagnoist though mind you, he's compelling BECAUSE the world and the story don't see him as an antagonist to a single story (Luffy's), but instead another player pushing for their own wants and needs. Yet it continues to work because every aspect of the storytelling and world building reinforce these ideas implicitly and explicitly. Garling feels like he'll turn out to be the greatest example of why the reason to watch One Piece is the living and conniving world it takes place in.

Lets not forget the typical shounen trope that the first attack of revealing a skill/ability ALWAYS hits. We have two type of Ringleader: brain or brawl. Would be a disappointing move after defeating THE STRONGEST CREATURE of the planet by pulling out the "yeah... the strongest people KNOW about" card. Second is that I am not even powerscalling(powerscalling especially on One Piece is just boring BS ngl) All I am saying is 2 things First, Sabo used surprise attack and did no damage, Imu's attack was not surprise and Sabo saw it coming 2nd first attack must hit is a trope, but unnamed first attack almost killing is not a trope unless it is strong character. This sounds really crazy but something about making Garland an elder star has started to make me suspect if Imu really is the "bad guy" but rather a trapped entity? But at the same time they're clearly in control of the elder stars which are behind a lot of evil in the world. My only guess is that Imu might be some kind of amalgamation of the Imu mentioned in history and "a good person" like maybe Lili who can take control of the entity the two have become. That might explain why they want Vivi so bad, maybe the good person (Lili?) within Imu wants to use her as a vessel for their soul. Though.. that's hardly a nice thing to do! Anyway, I'm excited to see where the story leads!

I think it’ll be the opposite in which Shanks will fight Garling first, get the win, but be so mortally wounded that BB takes his chance and finally ends Shanks. I’m thinking that each of the Gorosei members along with Imu will have their own final opponents. So far I can see: Luffy vs Imu Zoro vs Venus Shanks vs Garling And then when it comes to Warcury, Jupeter, Mars, I’d like to see their opponents be some mixture of the groups, like maybe Koby fights one representing the Navy while Dragon fights another representing the Revolutionaries, I just couldn’t think of one final party that has a member strong enough to take on a Gorosei. A lot of people think that Akainu will be Dragon’s final opponent, but I think Dragon and his sons will take on Akainu together before having to move on. Then a redeemed Kuzan is the actual person who wins against Akainu.

Japanese cosmology borrows from Buddhist cosmology which is Indian in origin which goes something like - 7 planets of which the Sun, Moon are privileged as bodyguards of the Buddha and 5 attendants, additionally Ketu (comets) are just one thing now, which is Rahu and Ketu/ the story of the dragon that created eclipses can also be added in as a celestial body.

The flaw in the theory of the holy knights being Elders in training, is that Saturn was a scientist, I presume the others have similar levels of expertise. To me, Garling getting the job feels like Imu not just punishing Saturn, but deciding he NEEDS all the power he can get for what is to come, where as before he was satisfied coasting by on the powerful fruit abilities and immortality, now he needs someone who is very strong before adding all of that.

I think that the ENTIRE CREW of Shanks will gang up on Garling, or perhaps Shanks, Garp and Sakazuki fight him together, reminding of how Roger and Garp allied to fight Rocks. Zoro fights Nusjuro, Sanji fights Mars, Dragon fights Warcury.

the pun still sorta works. Planet comes from the ancient Greek: πλανήται, romanized: *planetai* or in Latin: planetae, lit. 'wanderers'). These wandering stars as the greek called them were the five planets that could be seen by the naked eye, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, as well as the moon and the sun. These were the only "stars" that moved relative to all of the other stars, hence wandering stars but nowadays the definition of planet excludes the moon and the sun and includes 2 more planet that can't be seen by the naked eye. The Gorosei are named after the first 5 but Garling represent the last 2, the Moon if you look at him from the side and the sun if you look at him from the front

I dont know about Figarland being Fenrir, that's hard for me to believe as he's supposed to be the son of Loki and if accurate to Norse mythos is supposed to be chained up until he breaks free.
