Oura Ring Gen3 Horizon Review - worth it in 2023?

I love my Oura ring. I agree, I have the flat top and it works better as a reminder when the ring has shifted. I know people complain about the subscription but I do see it as a way for the ring cost which is high to not have to become even more expensive as they innovate. The data is extremely accurate and useful. I use my Apple Watch more for fitness tracking as I agree this ring for fitness needs some improvement.

I love the design of the Oura. It's the only type of wearable I'd be able to tolerate, especially while sleeping. However, the forced subscription model is an absolute deal breaker for me. I am truly infuriated and disgusted by this push toward ongoing subscription fees ro access your own damn data. It's happening across all industries, even in cars, so it's becoming more difficult to avoid. Not only do they extort this monthly fee out of you for access to your own data, but they also will sell your data to other their corporate partners for additional profit and you will have absolutely no control over that. Data mining is becoming the core business model in just about every industry and, in many cases, you are paying a fee for the privilege of being a product for them to sell. As much as I love its form factor, the Oura is off the table for me.

Agree - solution to this is WEB 3 (blockchain). This is where you will own your data and if companies want it, then you will be paid rather than the company.

not really. I tested multiple ring sizes from Oura (they send you an optional sample pack beforehand to test out). Since Oura does not have half sizes, the size below this was too small, and would have been unusable during the Summer when finger size increases..

Hi Katie, watched your video when it first came out, and it put me off upgrading to the gen three, even though I was a gen 2 customer and would have subscription for life. It just felt so wrong a year later I was almost tempted by the $75 discount, but having watched your video again, I can’t do it. I can’t spend out all that money when they hide your data behind a pay wall. So I’ll just stick with my Gen 2 until it dies. And say it was fun while it lasted.

I'm looking forward to the whoop vs oura. I have the whoop and am wondering if it two would be overkill. I have a Garmin as well, but the sleep tracking and even blood oxygen on that are terrible.

I would not recommend Oura ring. After using Oura ring for more than 2 years I don’t think that this device is good value for your money. The battery lifespan is ~ 1 year, after my first ring battery died and after innumerable emails with Oura poor customer support team I got a replacement. ~1 year later the same problem happened and they do not provide any guarantee for it. If you consider the total cost and the membership on top you can get much better metrics and insights from many latest generation devices in the market and with better accuracy

vell. all these fitness gadgets is not worth buying. not only about this ring, but also several other smart watches, etc. all of these protucts do have abonnements that never stop, automatic recurring.. when you buy these products, then all fitness data should been automatic implemented.. your data atually..
