Disclaimer: I wrote this 1/2 way through the video, only to see you came to the same conclusion lol. I've been looking at these 2 and it's a very aggravating choice. I'm fairly active and I'd love the Whoop overall. However, I have sleep issues (insomnia, minor sleep apnea), which is my primary concern, and the Oura is better in that regard. The variation in SP02 and tracking that throughout the night is important. Also factor in that anatomically, I do believe a ring gives you more accurate readings than your arm or wrist (there's a reason hospitals put your heart rate monitor on your finger at the hospital and it's not just for convenience). Ultimately it comes down to: If you're primary concern is sleep issues, Oura. If it's fitness, go with Whoop. Overall, this is the best video I've seen on the two products; well done. I'm actually still torn. Price is negligible over 3 years. As much as sleep is my primary concern, I'm curious if Whoop would be adequate enough to do what I need and get the benefits of fitness tracking.

@@Sakonimo I went with the Oura ring. I don't bother wearing it during the day, it can definitely get damaged if during yard work or working out. But ultimately decided I don't really care about my workout or daytime tracking. It came down to trust sleep and the ring is pretty damn awesome at seeing the specifics. If this is truly consistent, it verified concerns I had about my at home sleep study and sleep apnea results. I asked for my results from the ENT and it turns out my sleep apnea score is lower than I thought and it was based on only 3-4 hours of sleep (I knew it came off during the night at some point). My biggest marker the Oura ring shows that is a concern is my HRV. The app is very simple to navigate, clear and concise. And I don't even notice the ring, which I don't would be the case with anything strapped to me. I'm very happy with my choice.

Been a long time Oura user, I like the minimalist aspects. The biggest plus is not having to wear a fitness tracker around my wrist all the time, as I prefer to wear a watch everyday and for other activities. The behavioral tracking with Oura has been a big letdown and frustration, especially compared to what Whoop offers. I had higher hopes that they would continue to improve when they launched their upgrade last year, but it has been pathetic so far.

Keep this in mind: 6And the LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. 7Come, let us go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.” 8So the LORD dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city. 9Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confuseda the language of all the earth. And from there the LORD dispersed them over the face of all the earth.

Just purchased an Oura ring today, my issue is that I love wearing my Garmin watch and I wanted to pick the whoop but after wearing a friends it just looks silly to wear both a Garmin watch and whoop at the same time. Great content even though I’m seeing this almost a year later lol

I’m on a free month trial of Whoop and I’m pretty impressed so far. Never used a wearable health tracker before but the experience has been enlightening. Nice to know I can move the Whoop around on my arm without losing accuracy. That was my one hesitation to subscribing, wasn’t sure I could stand to have something pressing into the same spot on my arm 24/7. But now that I know it can be moved I’ll definitely subscribe.

Getting on well! I really like it. I would say, for the casual user, a lot of the actionable insight you get from wearing Whoop you can probably get in the free 1-month trial. Stuff like how alcohol or different amounts of sleep affect your recovery. But for the hardcore user who wants to constantly try making several changes to their routine, a lot more can be gained. The best part for me has been energy management. Through Whoop I figured out that I wasn’t giving my body enough rest. Now that I’m sticking to the amount of daily strain the Whoop recommends I feel much better.

Thanks for this! I’ve had whoop for a couple years and have had some frustrations with it. Was considering the Oura ring bc I really like the integration with natural cycles and had heard it shows steps as well (I know whoop thinks overall activity is more important, but dang if that step number isn’t motivating!) Have really struggled with whoops customer service so that has been a major negative. Also I wish the journal was a little more customizable, but that’s ok. I find the sleep tracking to be very inaccurate when I’ve been drinking alcohol (it always registers WAY more sws and rem when I’ve overindulged and that can’t be right) and like you mentioned, it doesn’t always register when I wake up for short amounts. I wish the average metrics wouldn’t adjust so much… for example mine has quite a bit of data but I’m on some new meds that drastically lower my HRV and I wish that was reflected more - now my previous very low HRV is considered normal. For exercise, I agree whoop would definitely be easier to continue wearing - it’s one of my main qualms about the ring. Not sure if you’ve compared the whoop with a regular chest strap HRM but I’ve found whoop to not be that accurate at all when compared to the chest strap which is known for accuracy (and feels more accurate to my experience). What I wanna know is when we are gonna get an implant tracker 😅 or when insurance companies are gonna endorse these things like how they do with the car insurance gps tracker things 😳

Hey you lost me again at a little over a minute in when you said both of them have a subscription. I'm not faulting anyone who wants to pay monthly for something, everyone's got their own choice. But can you please do a comparison of the best non-subscription device trackers? Like Apple watches, Samsung watches or Garmin watches, etc. I love your reviews and look forward to hearing something comparing non-subscription trackers
@ConnectTheWatts Жыл бұрын
Fair enough, I did do a comparison of the Apple Watch Ultra vs three of the best Garmin watches fairly recently. As well as COROS, and plan on covering more as they come out. Those are all great, but I still pair whoop with them as the recovery data (especially HRV) is much more reliable on top of the behavior analysis tools. Totally understand not liking subscriptions tho

Wore the Whoop band for little over a year and loved the data, etc...but found it was often caught on clothing and such. After a while it seems the band requires replacement as elasticity changes. The Oura on the other hand, (pardon the pun), is easy to wear without issue. Been wearing it to the gym for last couple of years and don't find it uncomfortable when working out with bars, dumbbells, or machines. It hasn't been damaged either. I prefer the comfort of the ring over intrusion on my wrist or forearm.

@@user-pf5xq3lq8i I can't say the Oura is in absolute perfect condition, it isn't. It has some minor scratches I guess but it's not an issue when lifting. It's certainly not dented. Team Whoop. I’ve been an Oura user for 3 years. The data tracked from Oura is so behind Whoop or other trackers. I will not get a new Oura ring in the future without majoring tracking upgrades. The only benefit at this point in time, for Oura it sits in your finger without drawing attention in most ways, unless working out with your hands. The app and data tracking frustratingly bad in comparison.

On-line research, so please correct me if you've had a different experience with the Auro ring. I found that the Auro ring battery canNOT be replaced, and that the ring itself needs to be replaced roughly every year (if not *more* often).. So if you're going to calculate the cost over 3 years, it's $900, not $300. If anyone has had an Auro ring long term, please comment.
