While I’m away at work Craig stays busy completing some of the daily chores. Ouch! That sure looked like a hard fall. No worries though, his wrist is sore but nothing broke.
Join us over the next few weeks while we finish up the lower cabinets & counters in the kitchen, install flooring in the living room and kitchen and start working on the shower.

One of the best mods we have ever done was to build a wood box in the house that can be filled from the outside. It's life changing 😊. So glad you didn't get seriously hurt when you fell, that would be bad 😞.

I hope you're okay, Craig. I did exactly the same thing on Christmas night. Only it was black ice on cement. I landed on my tailbone. Getting better though. It only hurts when I laugh....hahaha...oww! 😂😂😱 Take care ✌️🇨🇦

When i was young and old people made a big deal about falling i used to think... "What's the big deal, it's just a fall?" Now I'm old and when someone falls i think.... "Thank God he lived"

Sounds like a big to do list for 2025 :) A little ash on the ice helps but then you would have to haul wood with a wagon ! Those falls can be bad you got lucky :) Stay warm take care "

Ouch! I'm sorry you fell! 2 of your doggos were so concerned about you. I noticed they both ran to see if you were okay. Another one brought you a stick when you were loading your wood. Nice doggos.

Have yall ever considered building a ramp, dirt or wooden, that would allow you to pull the firewood sled up onto the deck? With that you could even drag it all the way into the house. Less opening the front door, no more up and down the stairs, and far less walking on ice. We were in Fairbanks for five years, and the ice gets sticky up there, but down south where y’all are it stays super slick for so long… well anyhow, it is an idea. Thanks for the content!

My grandmother used to say put old socks on the outside of your shoes as it gave some grip on ice, have used it a few times and seemed to work as long as they didn’t get clogged with ice

OH NO. PRAYERS YOU ARE HEALING FROM YOUR FALL..oh my goodness it happens so fast. We just got a major winter storm yesterday & not being use to snow (we might get 7 inches yearly) I was out feeding out the cats. I fell in our 10 inches of fresh snow yesterday. I’m older (62 year old PRAISE GOD lady) & I landed in a snow drift. I swear our Barn cats & our 2 little house Dogs a 9 pound Pomeranian Chester & our 9 pound Chihuahua CoCo was all laughing at me!!! It had to be a funny sight. Thanks for your videos I enjoy watching them. GOD BLESS from West Central Indiana Farmland

I hate falling on ice. Couple of years ago I fell flat on my back in a parking lot thanks to some black ice and smacked my head on the pavement. I had on a backpack with some certain self defense items in it which my lower back became very familiar with on that fall. Was sore for days. Reminds me I need to buy some spikes.

Ouch! Glad to hear you're doing okay, though. As for the ice; I don't know if this would work but on another off-gridder's video they mentioned using wood ash and/or sawdust to help deal with ice. Don't know if that would help though. Anyway, stay safe up there!

Hopefully 2025 is you digging a deep water catchment pit to collect the spring water and a shallow well pump to at least pump the water up to the flat land. Just a little digging a day through the summer would allow you to bury the water line deep enough to not freeze. You could hook up and unhook the pump each time you needed water. Then summer 2026 have a back hoe dig a pit to the house so you can have water on demand. Even a series of pits to hold water over the next few years if one pump won't cover the distance. You should also store a few cords of wood on the porch for these icy periods. One fall and you can break a hip...That can be a permanet injury...
