Ouray Ice Park: More than a Climbing Adventure

Ouray Ice Park is one of the best ice climbing locations in the world, located in Ouray, CO, in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Being in Ouray is like being in a fairytale. You can breathe the magic of the gorge, dream about the movements of the ice at night, and feel a connection with nature and the mountains that is embedded in you long after you leave. What brought us there was the pursuit of an ice climbing adventure, but what we were left with is much more than that.

You were able to fly a drone in there? Was gonna bring mine but it says no drones.

Correct, you're not allowed to fly drones in the park. In my case, I was there the very last week of the season (it was already March) and at the end of the day (around 5 pm) and no one was in the park. I asked permission to the rangers in Dick's Chalet and they granted it. If you notice, in every drone shot I took there is absolutely no one else but us, even in the School room or Scottish gullies, so I wasn't annoying even a single person. This was quite a few years ago though before the big crowds (we didn't need to go very early to find an anchor), so I'm not sure the rangers would grant permission again, or that you would ever find the park completely empty even in March.
